We do this through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.svri.org\/what-we-do\/research-support\/svri-grant\">funding research<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.svri.org\/what-we-do\/capacity-development\">strengthening research capacity<\/a>, promoting partnerships and influencing change. The SVRI became an independent organisation in 2019. It is incorporated as a non-profit organisation under South African law (SVRI NPC 2019\/197466\/08) having spun out of the SAMRC.\u00a0 The new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.svri.org\/sites\/default\/files\/attachments\/2019-11-05\/SVRI_StratDoc_LookandFeel_HR_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Strategic Plan<\/a>\u00a0for the period 2020 \u2013 2024 was launched in October 2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Consultant<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>South Africa<\/p>\n<p>In order to fulfil the mandate of our membership base, effectively implement the strategic plan, and secure the long-term sustainability or the organization, the SVRI is seeking the services of a qualified consultant or consultants to develop a comprehensive resource mobilisation strategy that will take into account the current global donor landscape, identify new actors, explore new funding modalities, and outline a strategic approach to leveraging existing and new partnerships, as well as make recommendations on how to diversify our resource base.<\/p>\n<p>The objective of the consultancy is to develop a resource mobilisation strategy and establish a clear overview of current and potential funding opportunities for the SVRI to increase the long-term sustainability of the organization.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Specific tasks:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review the SVRI\u2019s current strategic plan; work plan; project proposals, knowledge management products and funding model to better understand the needs and help position the organisation for resource mobilisation.<\/li>\n<li>Consult with the SVRI team to understand the vision, mission and focus areas of the organisation.<\/li>\n<li>Map the SVRI products and services to identify funding gaps.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct a comprehensive analysis of potential donors worldwide based on geographic interest and thematic funding and assess the feasibility of securing multiyear and thematic funding.<\/li>\n<li>Map donors\u2019 strategic areas of interest and explore opportunities for partnerships from emerging donors working in low- and middle-income countries and private sector foundations.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a plan to engage new donors (traditional and non-traditional).<\/li>\n<li>Develop objectives for fundraising, methods, strategies and focus (bilateral, private sector, public funding, foundations).<\/li>\n<li>Recommend strategies to develop and maintain strategic partnerships and engagement with key donors.<\/li>\n<li>Draft master fundraising proposals based on past proposals and aligned with the new strategic plan.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a series of fundraising materials (print and digital) to secure funding\/raise the profile of the SVRI, including website content.<\/li>\n<li>Develop fundraising guidelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Deliverables:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A comprehensive\u00a0resource mobilisation strategy\u00a0that includes an overview of the situation, a critical analysis of past fundraising experience, explores future opportunities and strategies, and outlines a time-bound action plan to systematically research and raise funds.<\/li>\n<li>An\u00a0annex that maps donor interests\u00a0worldwide \u2013 particularly in LMICs &#8211; priorities, funding windows, typical funding amounts, focal points, samples of successful project applications, and points to clear actions that should be taken to mobilise resources and develop and maintain relationships with donors.<\/li>\n<li>A series of fundraising materials, both print and digital, including website content.<\/li>\n<li>Master proposals\u00a0to potential donors (number to be determined).<\/li>\n<li>Institutional\u00a0fundraising guidelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required education, experience and competencies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Development, Planning, Business Administration, Communication, or a related field.<\/li>\n<li>At least ten years global experience in the development sector \u2013 preferably on gender equality and VAW issues \u2013 and proven experience and success in developing business models and mobilising funds for civil society and international non-governmental organisations.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent knowledge of key donors focused on LMICs.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of working in multicultural contexts.<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical, strategic thinking and planning skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in English.
