Job Title:\u00a0Value Chain Coordinator<\/strong> <\/p>\n These TORs detail the job description and responsibilities for managing and coordinating the Trade Forward Southern Africa (TFSA) programme\u2019s supply\/value chain activities, including implementing sector selection and analysis, planning for technical interventions, aligning the supply\/value chain activities with overall TFSA functions such as the learning platform, GESI and Information Hub, and identifying\/coordinating STTA for specific interventions.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n BACKGROUND<\/strong><\/p>\n The Prosperity Fund (PF) is a cross-government development assistance fund with the primary objective of reducing poverty in developing Middle-income Countries (MICs) and creating opportunities for international business, including UK companies. The Global Trade Programme (GTP) aims to provide TA and support to facilitate free trade and open markets by helping them to identify and remove Nontariff Barriers (NTBs) to Trade, including Standards, Regulations, Customs and Trade Facilitation. The GTP\u2019s primary objective is poverty reduction, promotion of gender equality and inclusive growth.<\/p>\n OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME<\/strong><\/p>\n DAI is contracted to provide management and technical support services to the Foreign Commonwealth Office in support of Trade Forward Southern Africa (TFSA). TFSA will provide both capacity building and technical assistance to support growth in trade and find targeted solutions that will improve gender equality in trade and alleviate poverty across the countries within SACU+M (South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini (fka Swaziland), Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia).<\/p>\n The main activities included within the programme are:<\/strong><\/p>\n This programme is expected to: increase opportunities to trade; overcome NTBs to trade in goods; improve export performance, and in doing so achieve a reduction in poverty and have a gender positive impact on trade in SACU+M, as well as to help facilitate trade continuity between SACU+M and the UK post-EU exit.<\/p>\n SCOPE OF WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n The Value Chain Coordinator will work with the TFSA team and FCDO (client) to oversee the management of TFSA support to selected sectors in Southern Africa considered to have high potential to drive economic growth through improved trade readiness. He\/she will identify a long list of priority sectors (trade ready or near trade ready) to be considered for analysis and technical assistance by the TFSA Programme. From the long list of sectors, the coordinator will apply the TFSA selection criteria to select 3-4 sectors per country as Phase 1 sectors. The Coordinator will be responsible for conducting preliminary analysis from data and information gathered as part of a desk study and in some cases, from direct interviews with stakeholders and provide a set of recommendations for broad interventions that address NTBs to Trade. Based on this analysis, then 3-5 Phase 2 sectors will be selected for more in-depth analysis and technical assistance. Throughout this process, the Sector Coordinator will identify STTA needs for the analysis and intervention activity design. For those needs, he\/she will also be responsible for developing Terms of References and supporting the recruitment for STTA consultants.<\/p>\n This assignment satisfies milestone deliverable 3,2 – selection of Phase 1 and Phase 2 sectors and Milestone 3.3 – sector analysis and activities matrix design.<\/p>\n DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n Please note that all profiles are indicative only and therefore subject to change.<\/strong><\/p>\n
