The Director will be responsible for driving the overall strategy, fundraising, corporate governance, operations and ensuring service excellence.\u00a0We are looking for a dynamic Director, who is not only solution orientated, but passionate and driven about protecting the rights, needs and well being of the most vulnerable children of our community.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must demonstrate and have experience and knowledge of working in the childcare sector, particularly residential care and early intervention projects, as well as leading a professional multi disciplinary team.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Director<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Cape Town &#8211; CBD<br \/>\n<strong>Reporting to: <\/strong>Chairperson, Governing Board<br \/>\n<strong>Nature of contract: <\/strong>Permanent<br \/>\n<strong>Salary range: <\/strong>R40,000 \u2013 R50,000 p\/m (CTC)\u00a0 Commensurate with experience<br \/>\n<strong>Benefits:<\/strong> Provident Fund, Company car<br \/>\n<strong>Commencement date:<\/strong> 01 March 2021<\/p>\n<p><strong>MAIN DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Overall management of the organization<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating strategic and operational planning<\/li>\n<li>Governance and compliance management within a NPO legislative framework applicable to the childcare sector<\/li>\n<li>Overseeing the management of the Homestead\u2019s finances and reporting thereon timeously and accurately to the Governing Board<\/li>\n<li>Developing and directing financial strategy and accountability<\/li>\n<li>Overseeing human resource practices, systems and compliance<\/li>\n<li>Build motivated staff teams and provide coaching and development<\/li>\n<li>Fundraising, servicing and maintaining of the donor base<\/li>\n<li>Public relations and networking<\/li>\n<li>Initiating and supervising new and existing programmes<\/li>\n<li>Overseeing human resource practices and systems<\/li>\n<li>Writing and presenting of fund raising proposals<\/li>\n<li>Participating in sectoral advocacy and lobbying efforts<\/li>\n<li>Sit on Management Board as ex officio member.<\/li>\n<li>Regular site (Unit) visits to Khayelitsha, Manenberg, Valhalla &amp; District six.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED SKILLS &amp; EXPERIENCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Acting as the face and voice of the organization, the ideal applicant will have the following competencies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor or Masters Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Management or other degree with relevant experience essential (preferably, but not exclusively, in Social Work)<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 5 years\u2019 experience in a leadership position is essential, with the ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams, staff, projects and budgets.<\/li>\n<li>Creating and maintaining a motivational climate, and constructive working relationships, which promotes valued and engaged employees within a unionized environment.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of working in the non-profit sector in partnership with the provincial and national government and relevant donors.<\/li>\n<li>Proven track record of fundraising essential<\/li>\n<li>Experience with donor applications and reporting<\/li>\n<li>Writing and presenting of fund raising proposals essential<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively at an executive level (Man Com)<\/li>\n<li>An established track record of sound financial management<\/li>\n<li>Sound grasp of development issues affecting children and families<\/li>\n<li>In depth knowledge of the respective Child care acts and laws<\/li>\n<li>Proven track record of designing, developing, implementing and executing organizational strategy.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to engender trust and respect from others, and motivate stakeholder\u2019s confidence in the organization<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to sensitively manage challenging situations in a dignified and confidential manner<\/li>\n<li>Ability to network, influence and work alongside and together with stakeholders, beneficiaries, staff and community.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent organizational abilities, flexibility and high tolerance for working under pressure and managing conflicting priorities.<\/li>\n<li>Well-developed writing and communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s license<\/li>\n<li>Computer literate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Application process: Please submit a CV (3 pages), a motivation letter highlighting your suitability and relevant experience, plus details of three contactable referees to <strong><a href=\"mailto:julia@thehomestead.org.za\">julia@thehomestead.org.za<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline: <\/strong>by 22 November 2020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Homestead is a registered Non-Profit Organization providing prevention, early intervention and reintegration services to street children and children at risk in Cape Town.
