Our vision is a poverty-free world in which womxn, children, men and gender non-conforming individuals enjoy equitable, caring, healthy and happy relationships that contribute to the development of gender just and democratic societies.<\/p>\n<p>Sonke strengthens governments, civil society and citizen\u2019s capacity to advance gender justice and womxn\u2019s rights, prevent gender-based violence and reduce the spread of HIV and the impact of AIDS, and in this way contributing to social justice and the elimination of poverty.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Senior Trainer\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Johannesburg or Cape Town<br \/>\n<strong>Remuneration:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>R324\u00a0000 per annum &#8211; total cost to company<\/p>\n<p>TThe Regional Programmes and Network Unit (RPN) Senior Trainer will report to the RPN Programme Specialist and will provide technical input for a new project funded by Concern Worldwide. The project objectives include formative research and design, capacity building in gender norms transformation through a comprehensive train the trainer (ToT) methodology and qualitative research, focusing on both individual change as well as the impact of research and country partner interventions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Planning, development and implementation<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist and support with the development of curriculum and provision of IEC<\/li>\n<li>Lead on training and mentoring initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Provide training and advise on community mobilisation strategies<\/li>\n<li>Provision and distribution of project materials<\/li>\n<li>Field support to partners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2. Research<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform periodic desktop research on different themes and topics assigned by the project specialist<\/li>\n<li>Assist with conducting Focus Group Discussions and in-depth interviews<\/li>\n<li>Provide a report with a summary of key findings and recommendations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3. Training<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct training for partner organisations and in-country partners on gender norms transformation<\/li>\n<li>Develop workshop programmes in conjunction with the programme specialist<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that workshop materials and supporting documents, i.e. handouts are in place<\/li>\n<li>Collect workshop materials that will inform the writing of monthly field report<\/li>\n<li>Write and submit workshop reports timeously<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u200b4.\u00a0Support mid-term project review process<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with the reviewing and collating of project documents and reports in preparation for the mid-term project review process<\/li>\n<li>Provide logistical support with regards to hosting and organising meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>5. Donor reporting<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with documenting experiences and lessons learnt from the field and provide a summary of key results<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>6. Support<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the development of the MenEngage network within Africa and outside through creating country-based linkages with CWW country-based programmes, including undertaking research, running training courses or developing tools<\/li>\n<li>Attend Sonke\/MenEngage Africa meetings, where appropriate and requested<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>7. Administration<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that you are familiar with HR, Finance and Administration and Procurement procedures and ensure that these are consistently adhered to<\/li>\n<li>Ensure requisitions, quotations and payments are prepared in line with the payment processes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>8. General<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitate a smooth exit from target area at the end of the project period<\/li>\n<li>Other related tasks as assigned<\/li>\n<li>Attending staff meetings, staff retreats, staff trainings and international meetings as required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in social sciences or equivalent experience<\/li>\n<li>2-3 years\u2019 work experience in the gender field; experience in the African region and internationally<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with gender transformative work with men and boys, including primary social change strategies, key organisations and networks in the region, key research findings and the associated evidence base for the work an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Experience in training organisations on gender equality<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with the Western, Southern and Eastern African region and the Middle East and North Africa region and on policies and programmes relating to gender equality and gender-based violence engaging men and boys an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and spoken English and French skills.\u00a0 Ability to speak and write in other African languages will be an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, i.e. Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and custom on-line applications<\/li>\n<li>Recognised commitment to promoting gender equality, human rights and social justice<\/li>\n<li>A valid driver&#8217;s licence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Skills required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to work independently, balance multiple tasks simultaneously; work under pressure and meet deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Excellent organisation and planning skills with the ability to prioritise time and work efficiently<\/li>\n<li>Pays attention to detail, displays a high level of integrity, able to multi-task<\/li>\n<li>Excellent presentation and facilitation skills<\/li>\n<li>Communication skills \u2013 the ability to express yourself clearly and concisely<\/li>\n<li>Report writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Budgeting and financial management skills<\/li>\n<li>Relations management and capacity to interact at all levels and with people from different cultural backgrounds<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to travel at least 75% of the time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Process:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interested applicants should submit their CV, a motivational letter that details your experience, the contact details of three referees, and this completed one page template\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/genderjustice.org.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Sonke-Employment-Application-Form.docx\">https:\/\/genderjustice.org.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Sonke-Employment-Application-Form.docx<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0via email to Sonke\u2019s Human Resource Unit at\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:hiring@genderjustice.org.za\">hiring@genderjustice.org.za<\/a>.<\/strong> closing date\u00a030 November 2020.<\/li>\n<li>For non-South Africans, it is the responsibility of the applicant to attain a work permit from the Department of Home Affairs, and employment will depend on a valid work permit being in place.<\/li>\n<li>Only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
