{"id":59630,"date":"2020-12-07T16:22:32","date_gmt":"2020-12-07T14:22:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=59630"},"modified":"2020-12-07T16:22:32","modified_gmt":"2020-12-07T14:22:32","slug":"probono-org-recent-available-job-opportunity-apply-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/probono-org-recent-available-job-opportunity-apply-now.html","title":{"rendered":"\u00a0ProBono.Org Recent Available Job Opportunity &#8211; Apply Now!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ProBono.Org is a dynamic NGO that works with the private legal profession to provide pro bono legal services to the poor and contributes to ensuring that the unmet access to justice needs of impoverished people living in South Africa are met.<\/p>\n<p>They work to bring the power of the law to all by building cutting-edge digital tools and fostering collaborations with the nation\u2019s leading civil legal organizations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Legal\u00a0Interns<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Cape Town<br \/>\n<strong>Start Date:<\/strong> January 2021<\/p>\n<p>This position requires the incumbent to support and work with the Regional Director and Staff Attorney to contribute to the work of ProBono.Org in Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key responsibilities of this position include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interviewing those seeking legal assistance or anyone acting on their behalf.<\/li>\n<li>Assessing matters in terms of the ProBono.Org criteria.<\/li>\n<li>Consulting with the ProBono.Org Staff Attorney on the best strategy for dealing with matters, such as direct legal assistance, litigation, mediation or another form of legal intervention.<\/li>\n<li>Preparing detailed briefs, memos and instructions for legal practitioners in matters that require pro bono legal assistance.<\/li>\n<li>Managing all matters from time of consultation until such matter is closed or referred to an attorney or advocate.<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining, building and enhancing strong relationships with NGOs, CBOs, CAOs, law clinics and other pro bono and public interest law initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Writing reports on matters to be used as part of ProBono.Org\u2019s reporting and communication functions, including Facebook and Twitter.<\/li>\n<li>Attending workshops and seminars on behalf of ProBono.Org.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitating community and attorney workshops on behalf of ProBono.Org.<\/li>\n<li>Conducting research and handling other details in preparation of matters, where necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key competencies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A demonstrable commitment to and interest in public interest law and social justice.<\/li>\n<li>Proactive attitude, with enthusiasm for ProBono.Org\u2019s mission and vision.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in English and isiXhosa.<\/li>\n<li>Advanced communication and interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent drafting, writing and editing skills.<\/li>\n<li>Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point).<\/li>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s license and driving experience preferred (not required); and<\/li>\n<li>Currently based in Cape Town.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred qualifications and experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An appropriate law qualification, (LLB) with some practical experience.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of SA\u2019s socio-economic environment and how it impacts on legal justice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kindly email a motivational letter and your CV with certified copies of qualifications and academic transcripts to<strong> <a href=\"mailto:Uzair@probono.org.za\">Uzair@probono.org.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Wednesday, 16 December, 2020<\/p>\n<p><strong>NB:<\/strong> Applications which do not comply with the above will not be considered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ProBono.Org is a dynamic NGO that works with the private legal profession to provide pro bono legal services to the poor and contributes to ensuring that the unmet access to&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1353,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[326,198],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>\u00a0ProBono.Org Recent Available Job Opportunity - Apply Now!
