If so, we invite you to explore the possibility of joining us to play your part in Desmond Tutu Health-Foundations\u2019 exciting future.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0PHD Student<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Head Office\u00a0(Knowledge\u00a0Translation Unit); Observatory<br \/>\n<strong>Employment Type:<\/strong> One Year\u00a0Fixed\u00a0Term Contract<\/p>\n<p>The Desmond Tutu Health Foundation requires applications for a PHD Student. \u00a0The successful appointee will be based within the Knowledge Translation Unit (however, some remote working will be required depending on COVID-19 level). The successful candidate would be appointed within the Knowledge Translation Unit and would be primarily be required to work on a funded study focused on strengthening adolescent healthcare in primary health care and schools, of which their PhD should be the focus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master\u2019s in health-related field<\/li>\n<li>In the process of registering as a Doctoral student for 2021<\/li>\n<li>Working experience in qualitative and quantitative research<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy (Proficiency in MS Excel and \/or MS Access, and other relevant statistical analysis software (STATA); as well as NVIVO or ATLAS TI)<\/li>\n<li>Outstanding communication skills<\/li>\n<li>A mature and responsible attitude towards work, with the ability to take ownership of projects<\/li>\n<li>Stakeholder management<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work within a team and individually<\/li>\n<li>Able to take projects from concept to completion<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal and organisational skills<\/li>\n<li>Exceptional attention to detail and high standards<\/li>\n<li>Able to self-manage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Engage with stakeholders as required in preparation for conducting research projects<\/li>\n<li>Prepare participant questionnaires and training manuals<\/li>\n<li>Quantitative and qualitative data collection, monitoring, cleaning and analysis<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate in the statistical design and analysis of trial findings<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate project tasks and deliverables within research projects<\/li>\n<li>Prepare reports for the institutional ethics review board, funders, data and safety monitoring boards and investigator meetings<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to paper writing on research projects<\/li>\n<li>Present data findings to stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to funding applications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Values fit:<\/strong>\u00a0 Passion, Innovation, Progress Integrity, Respect and Excellence<\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Quote Job reference, submit CV, motivation letter with certified copy of highest qualification and details of three (3) current contactable referees to: Attention HR Manager <strong><a href=\"mailto:Jobs@hiv-research.org.za\">Jobs@hiv-research.org.za<\/a><\/strong> and include Job reference: #KTUPHDstudent.
