It provides advice and support to workers, especially casual, contract, labour broker and other precarious workers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Strategic Litigation Attorney<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Germiston, Johannesburg<\/p>\n<p>Salary commensurate with experience and the CWAO\u2019s remuneration framework.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must share with the CWAO a commitment to protecting workers\u2019 rights and to using law as an instrument of justice.<\/p>\n<p>Preference will be given to black women applicants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Strategic litigation<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Regular appearances at CCMA\/Bargaining Councils<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Labour Court appearances in interdicts, trials and review applications<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Act as instructing attorney to counsel for Labour Appeal Court and Constitutional Court litigation<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Legal research<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Legal drafting<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Supervising and training of candidate attorneys and paralegals<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Establishing systems for recording, tracking, follow-up and reporting on cases<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Reporting and compliance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\"><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Admission as a practising attorney for at least three\u00a0years<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Up-to-date and substantial knowledge of labour legislation, women worker rights in particular<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Up-to-date knowledge of practice and procedure in the CCMA\/Bargaining Councils and Labour Courts<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Legal writing skills<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Legal research skills<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Computer literacy (Word, Excel, internet, email)<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Ability to take direction in a collective, democratic, worker-led environment<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Strong commitment to high-quality client service<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Demonstrated background of commitment to worker and human rights<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Fluent in English and at least one other official South African language<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Valid Driver\u2019s licence<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Applicants must be available to work on Saturdays<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\"><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Submit your application\u00a0to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:legal@cwao.org.za\">legal@cwao.org.za<\/a> <\/strong>\u00a0together with the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Motivational letter<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">CV with copies of qualifications<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Relevant sample of your writing (less than 10 pages)<\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\">Two contactable references.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>no later than 31 December 2020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Casual Workers Advice Office (CWAO) was founded in 2011 as a non-profit, independent organisation.
