Philani\u2019s mandate is sustainable community health, and, over the years, the organisation has developed programmes to meet the needs of the communities it serves. We aim to improve health outcomes by combining skills and resources with the knowledge and resources that exist in the community.<\/p>\n<p>Philani&#8217;s programmes promote family health, focusing on the support of pregnant mothers, prevention of child malnutrition and the rehabilitation of underweight children. The organisation is committed to limiting the suffering of families infected and affected by HIV and preventing the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Professional Nurse<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Khayelitsha, Cape Town<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit mothers-to-be,\u00a0malnourished children and home based care cases that need\u00a0extra support<\/li>\n<li>Assess\u00a0client needs, ensure that interventions are\u00a0carried out\u00a0correctly,\u00a0give appropriate medical advice and make referrals when necessary<\/li>\n<li>Provide assistance on complicated social cases<\/li>\n<li>Mediate any conflict within the programme and hold all Assistant Coordinators and mentor mothers\u00a0accountable<\/li>\n<li>Identify training needs and assist with programme training<\/li>\n<li>Liaise\u00a0for the hospital and clinics in the area<\/li>\n<li>Weekly administration requirements, including reporting, management of case files and attending meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Qualified Professional Nursing Sister<\/li>\n<li>Valid SANC receipt<\/li>\n<li>Minimum five years\u2019 experience working as a Nursing Sister<\/li>\n<li>Experience in child and maternal health is desirable<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy<\/li>\n<li>Code 08 driver\u2019s license<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in both English and IsiXhosa<\/li>\n<li>Organised<\/li>\n<li>Active member in her community<\/li>\n<li>People Management<\/li>\n<li>Teamwork and\u00a0Leadership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit a CV and motivation letter to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:hr@philani.org.za\">hr@philani.org.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> Monday, 11 January, 2021<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the Philani Child Health and Nutrition Trust, refer to<a href=\"http:\/\/www.philani.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0<\/a><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.philani.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.philani.org.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Philani Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition Trust has been addressing maternal and child health problems in the informal settlements surrounding Cape Town since 1979.
