\nTo deliver a strategy aligned portfolio of successful technology innovation projects with plans to move from one Technology Readiness Level (TRL) to the next towards full commercialisation.
\n
\nDuties\/Outputs:<\/strong><\/p>\n
\n\u2022Assist the head to develop divisional budgets and forecasts for EXCO and Board approval
\n\u2022Monitor and track performance against budget (operations and projects)
\n\u2022Manage and monitor the timeous disbursement of funding to ensure optimal operation of technology and innovation projects.
\n\u2022Identify new funding opportunities and raise additional income from third party investors.
\n\u2022Manage repayment obligations by funded projects to TIA (equity and royalties, investments and loans)<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Provide input into the formulation of a Stakeholder relationship strategy specific to the Business Unit.
\n\u2022Develop or contribute to media publications on any aspect related to the role
\n\u2022Build an effective eco system around the portfolio including key stakeholder relations.
\n\u2022Participate in events, meetings, workshops and conferences by giving input, avail skill, competency and expertise.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Adhere to all relevant policies and frameworks is maintained
\n\u2022Comply with all TIA systems (fund management, performance management, HR, finance, Stakeholder information, etc.) is maintained
\n\u2022Resolved all portfolio audit matters are
\n\u2022Ensure that project information is accurately and completely recorded on the fund management system, or similar
\n\u2022Ensure timeous and accurate reporting as per requirements
\n\u2022Assist applicants with building a fundable opportunity and to assess investment opportunities
\n\u2022Provides support and assistance to projects to achieve their milestones
\n\u2022Pro-actively identify of project risks and portfolio opportunities, together with project teams
\n\u2022Perform technical due diligence on TIA projects and programmes
\n\u2022Efficiently managed all aspects of the project life cycle, from sourcing to exit
\n\u2022Facilitate the Commercialisation of TIA projects and investments
\n\u2022Build a pipeline of investment opportunities for the strategic technology areas<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Adhere to all governance and compliance policies and procedures of TIA
\n\u2022Ensure compliance with Legislation, e.g. PFMA and National Treasury Guidelines;
\n\u2022Ensure compliance to all relevant accounting Standards, Policies and Frameworks; and
\n\u2022Ensure Compliance with TIA Standard Operating Procedures
\n\u2022Enter into a performance agreement with the organisation
\n\u2022Achieve key performance targets as set in the performance agreement.
\n\u2022Review own, Unit and Divisional performance against agreed performance standards
\n\u2022Identify and implement development opportunities to ensure continuous improvement of work effectiveness and efficiency<\/p>\n
\n\u2022A degree in Life Sciences
\n\u2022Preferred: A Masters\u2019 Degree in the Life Sciences, with emphasis in Human Health.
\n\u2022An appropriate business qualification would be an advantage
\n\u20223 years\u2019 experience within an innovation management environment
\n\u2022Preferred: 3 years innovation management experience plus 2 years\u2019 experience in a commercial or portfolio management context, with demonstrable experience in the ability to evaluate opportunities for funding recommendation<\/p>\n
