Job Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n

WWF-SA is looking for a Project Officer: Land Programme in order to facilitate a network of landscape initiatives resulting in protection from adverse impacts through appropriate and innovative mechanisms whilst providing opportunities to explore suitable land use practices to the benefit of the environment people.
\nThe Land Programme is a national protected area expansion programme and falls under the place based Fynbos and Succulent Karoo Programme with implementation in the respective biomes. Our work aims to inspire people to live in harmony with nature for the wellbeing of all and the sustainable development of South Africa. In line with this vision its programmatic work is structured around the key strategic objectives of securing the ecological assets of South Africa, ensuring that ecosystems and its associated services underpins socio-ecological wellbeing and addressing the risks and opportunities associated with climate change. To further support these conservation objectives, the Land Programme, works with all levels of government from local to national and as well investing in conservation partnerships across South Africa to implement its programme objectives which are as follows:
\n\u2022Assist in the conservation of South Africa\u2019s natural assets in high biodiversity areas through protected area expansion.
\n\u2022Focus the protected area expansion efforts on priority landscapes (biodiversity hotspots and threatened and critically endangered ecosystems).
\n\u2022Invest in South Africa\u2019s natural capital located in areas of high biodiversity.
\n\u2022Use innovative means to achieve these objectives and to explore a socially inclusive approach to WWF\u2019s Protected
\nArea expansion.<\/strong>
\nThe Project Officer: Land Programme will report directly to the Land Programme Manager.<\/p>\n

\u2022Support to the Land Programme Manager with key performance indicators and act for the Land Programme Manager when required.
\n\u2022Land acquisition: play a supportive role in the land acquisition process which includes all governance & finance related activities.
\n\u2022Better illustrate details on the price per hectare WWF\/NPT has spent on land.
\n\u2022Administration and coordination of specific offset agreements in the Land Programme.
\n\u2022Support the expanding Biodiversity Stewardship project work of the programme.
\n\u2022Assist the FSK Programme Coordinator with the administration and operational requirements of the WWF-associated Land Trusts.
\n\u2022Lead institutional liaison with land management partners, predominantly statutory conservation agencies.
\n\u2022Coordinate the signing of management agreements for the management of WWF purchased properties.
\n\u2022Work with the Land Programme to test and pilot innovative and alternative management models for the programme.
\n\u2022Oversee the development of a conservation audit system for the WWF property Portfolio.
\n\u2022Assist with the management and administration of the WWF property portfolio.
\n\u2022GIS support for the Programme and its projects.
\n\u2022Work with the FSK Programme Coordinator to provide administrative and logistical support for all public events, site visits and engagements hosted by the Land Programme.<\/p>\n

Education And Experience Requirements:<\/strong>
\n\u2022Relevant 3 year conservation degree\/qualification
\n\u2022Minimum of 2 years\u2019 experience in Protected Area Sector or landscape scale conservation
\n\u2022Knowledge and understanding of the South African environmental sector, role players and respective mandates; specifically the South Africa\u2019s Protected Areas Network and Stewardship Programmes
\n\u2022Independent thinking and working capabilities as well as the ability to engage across organisation and hierarchical levels
\n\u2022Ability to deliver results while managing competing priorities under tight deadlines
\n\u2022Collaborative spirit and ability to work in team settings across diverse organizational settings
\n\u2022Strong administrative and project management skills and experience
\n\u2022Computer literacy in word processing (MS Word), spread sheets (Excel), databases (Access), email & presentations (MS PowerPoint) including working knowledge of GIS
\n\u2022Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both orally and written;
\n\u2022Fluency in English and at one other South African language
\n\u2022Valid driver\u2019s license<\/p>\n
