The goal of Africa Check\u2019s work is to raise the quality of information available to society across the continent. Since 2012 we have fact-checked more than 1800 claims covering key topics across several countries around Africa. Our offices are in Nigeria, Senegal, Kenya and South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Based in our head office, located in the Journalism Department of Wits University in Johannesburg, Africa Check seeks to appoint a<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Data Administrator<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Opportunity type:<\/strong> Employment<br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong> Johannesburg<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Summary:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Data Administrator is responsible for collecting and recording data and managing the Africa Check data dashboard. The position, which reports to the Impact Manager, requires an understanding of and interest in misinformation and strong data management and analysis skills.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nKey responsibilities include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ensuring that all data are accurately recorded in the Africa Check dashboard. This includes reviewing any data captured by other staff members and ensuring that the data are current.<br \/>\nCoordinating and liaising with team members to collate and organise data<br \/>\nSupporting the impact manager to extract relevant data as required<br \/>\nAssisting in the wider work of impact research to assess the impact of Africa Check\u2019s multi-dimensional approach to combating misinformation<br \/>\nAssisting to produce case studies about the impact of misinformation<br \/>\nSupporting the impact manager to produce timely and accurate reports to fulfil our donor reporting requirements<br \/>\nTracking and analysing the circulation of false and misleading claims using our claim matching tool<\/p>\n<p><strong> Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s degree or equivalent qualification in social sciences<br \/>\nMinimum of 2 years\u2019 research experience, with strong data analysis skills, preferably in a policy environment with experience in impact research being an advantage<br \/>\nEnthusiasm and understanding of the media and the practice of fact-checking in particular<br \/>\nCuriosity and an interest in learning about a wide range of topics<br \/>\nExcellent written and oral communication skills<br \/>\nAbility to take initiative and responsibility for your work, and to solve problems<br \/>\nAbility to work with a diverse team across the continent<\/p>\n<p><strong>To Apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/africacheck.org\/get-involved\/join-our-team\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/africacheck.org\/get-involved\/join-our-team<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> Monday, 15 March, 2021<\/p>\n<p>Should you not hear from us within two weeks from the closing date, please accept that your application was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Check is a non-profit organisation set up in 2012 to promote accuracy in public debate and the media in Africa.
