\nWSP South Africa is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Geometrics Design Engineer who will function as a senior technical consultant for Geometrics and Highways Design Engineering projects in the Southern Africa and also able to support the international business as required. The role will require foreign travel, specifically travel within Africa.<\/p>\n
\nTechnical (Approximately 70%):<\/strong>
\n\u2022Managing and performing high quality technical advisory works;
\n\u2022Project management and interfacing with other engineering disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects
\n\u2022Provide technical input from initial assessment through technical and economic feasibility to design development and construction implementation to project close out
\n\u2022Carry out investigations, surveys, design, engineering calculations and preparation of working drawings and estimates for highways projects.
\n\u2022Review overall project design and suggest technical and design improvements
\n\u2022Assist with the preparation of cost estimates for working hours on project design
\n\u2022Keep up to date with highways and geometrics advances, and be aware of policy and technical developments in this discipline
\n\u2022Review technical submissions, assessing technical risks and proposing mitigation strategies to reduce risk exposure in project
\n\u2022Assist with and\/or conduct any other necessary aspects of a project that fall within the discipline of the role.
\n\u2022Monitoring project construction and acceptance including site visits and commissioning supervision; and
\n\u2022Detail oriented with strong skills in Infrastructure analysis
\n\u2022Ability to work in a team environment and must have excellent verbal and written skills
\n\u2022Undertake and lead team to execute geometrics design tasks as part of project development
\n\u2022Mentor and supervise junior engineers including reviewing, checking and approving work output of junior engineers
\n\u2022Grow and develop Digital Engineering including AutoDesk and BENTLEY capabilities within the geometrics engineering team.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Client liaison and project management
\n\u2022Drive and participate in work-winning in defining and deploying the engagement strategy, selecting target markets and clients, and in scoping and pricing of services, with particular focus on the South African and regional markets in Africa<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm

\nQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:<\/strong>
\n\u2022BEng or BSc Civil Engineering
\n\u2022Professional Engineer registered with ECSA
\n\u20225 to 8 years\u2019 experience in a similar role
\n\u2022Extensive experience with Bentley design suite software \u2013 Microstation, OpenRoads, Open Flows, ProjectWise
\n\u2022Extensive experience with the AutoDesk Suite
\n\u2022Experience working on large, international roads projects
\n\u2022Experienced with SANRAL projects
\n\u2022Major and minor road corridor modelling, including intersections, roundabouts and interchanges
\n\u2022proven competence in modelling Highways and Civil Engineering Designs of road networks, site earthworks, drainage, geometrics clash detection and be able to develop and interpret detail designs.<\/p>\n
