\nWWF-SA invites applications for the position of Project Coordinator to support the work of the Land
\nProgramme within the Fynbos & Succulent Karoo (FSK) focus areas. The Land Programme vision of
\nsuccess is:<\/p>\n
\nappropriate and innovative mechanisms whilst providing opportunities to explore sustainable land use
\npractices to the benefit of the environment and people.<\/p>\n
\n– Enable the conservation of South Africa\u2019s natural assets in priority landscapes through appropriate and
\ninnovative protected area expansion mechanisms (such as land purchase, stewardship, biodiversity
\ncompatible management and formal declaration).<\/p>\n
\nNational Protected Area Expansion Strategy, Provincial Conservation Priorities and other relevant spatial
\nproducts and strategies.<\/p>\n
\nLand Reform and Biodiversity Stewardship, holistic biodiversity friendly management, biodiversity
\nmanagement lease arrangements and other cooperative conservation models)<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Testing new ideas and concepts around building socio-ecological resilience in key landscapes within the Fynbos (the Resilient Landscapes). Supporting & mobilising civil society participation in conservation (via The Table Mountain Fund, and the WWF-Nedbank Green Trust);
\n\u2022Innovative Protected Area Expansion mechanisms and models promoting living landscapes in priority corridors.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Implement & Update Fynbos Strategy 2020 \u2013 2025
\n\u2022Administrative and technical input into Project development
\n\u2022Manage Project Executant relationships around project development and contractual agreements
\n\u2022Co-ordinate internal WWF submissions for new projects in collaboration with admin support
\n\u2022Organising of contractual agreements for project disbursements
\n\u2022Track work plans and activities within projects and liaise between Programme Manager and Project
\n\u2022Executants on agreed outputs
\n\u2022Track Programme Technical and Financial reporting in association with Project Executants
\n(Incoming reports)
\n\u2022Collate Project activities into external reports (as required, either contractually or ad hoc requests);
\n\u2022Manage Land Programme and Project finances against budgets
\n\u2022Ensure adherence to WWF Internal reporting on a quarterly basis and Technical Progress Reports
\n\u2022Other relevant operational activities as needs arise
\n\u2022Oversee project evaluation<\/p>\n
\nRequired Skills and Experience:
\n\u2022Relevant conservation degree\/qualification.
\n\u2022Minimum of 3 years\u2019 experience in Protected Area Management, Environmental or Biodiversity
\nManagement, Biophysical Research sectors.
\n\u2022Knowledge and understanding of the South African environmental sector, role players and respective mandates; specifically, the South Africa\u2019s Protected Areas Network and Stewardship Programmes.
\n\u2022Excellent administrative and project management skills and experience.
\n\u2022Independent thinking and working capabilities as well as the ability to engage across organisation and hierarchical levels.
\n\u2022Self-managed individual with good planning and prioritizing skills to manage a varied and pressurized workload and deliver results.
\n\u2022Stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.
\n\u2022Valid driver\u2019s license and own transportation essential and valid South African citizenship or resident status.
\n\u2022Computer literate – in word processing (MS Word), spread sheets (Excel), databases for recording and reporting (Access), email and presentations (MS PowerPoint) including working knowledge of GIS.
\n\u2022Proven team player, willing to accept additional responsibility, show initiative, and proactively work to exceed targets.
\n\u2022Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication, skills.
