Job Title: Sustainability Officer<\/strong> Job Summary:<\/strong> The successful candidate will have a proven track record of similar work with similar organisations, and will work closely with the Executive Director and management team to create systems and strategies for raising Amandla\u2019s profile in South Africa and overseas. It will be vital to get to know Amandla\u2019s work quickly and be able to confidently communicate to external audiences. The role requires an understanding of how communications and fundraising work together. Key results areas will include:<\/p>\n Supporting the Executive Director and US Fundraising board in donor stewardship and engagement Responsibilities:<\/strong> Requirements:<\/strong>

\nThe successful candidate will be a full-time appointment whose work is central to the sustainability of the organization, accomplished by 1) developing Amandla\u2019s external communications to our various donor and potential donor audiences, 2) cultivating new and existing donor relationships both within and outside South Africa, and 3) supporting the executive director\u2019s fundraising both with individuals and institutional donors. There will also be significant time devoted to developing and communicating Amandla\u2019s work in the Philippi community.<\/p>\n
\nCultivating donor relationships
\nDeveloping our social media through content creation (including visual media such as photography and film), community management as part of a broader communications and fundraising strategy,
\nProspect research (i.e., researching appropriately aligned foundations and other sources of funding)<\/p>\n
\nCultivating donor relationships
\nSupporting proposal development
\nDeveloping written and online communications for multiple audiences (understanding our various audiences and their needs is essential)
\nDeveloping multimedia and social media content
\nTraining staff and beneficiaries in social media best practices and developing multimedia content
\nSupporting individual donor stewardship and engagement
\nInstitutional and individual donor prospect research
\nDevelop campaign (e.g., annual Giving Tuesday campaign) infrastructure
\nBi-monthly board meetings<\/p>\n
\nMinimum two years in a similar role, either full-time or consulting
\nProven track record of building donor relationships
\nDemonstrated experience with social media and online communications
\nStrong written and verbal communication skills in English, with isiXhosa considered a big plus
\nStrong interpersonal skills
\nStrong research skills
\nTownship experience will be highly-valued
\nUnderstanding of and interest in youth development and education
\nAbility to be innovative and work independently with minimal supervision
\nExtremely positive and proactive
\nAbility to work well under pressure and manage shifting deadlines
\nEagerness to learn more about development and fundraising IS essential<\/p>\n
