In delivering \u2018social science that makes a difference\u2019, the Research Programmes of the Human Sciences Research Council initiate and undertake policy-oriented research projects and programmes from its offices in Cape Town, Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Pretoria. Its public-purpose mandate is set out in the Human Sciences Research Council Act of 2008.<\/p>\n
The HSC research programme specialises in research on the social determinants of HIV\/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, and tuberculosis. The research strives to address these health problems at their source, namely, at both the social and population levels. It also includes social aspects of delivery models for biomedical interventions to optimise the delivery of interventions. HSC is based in Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and Sweetwaters.<\/p>\n
The HSC research programme will be implementing the South African National HIV prevalence, Incidence, Behaviour, and Communication Survey (also known as SABSSM VI).<\/p>\n

\n\u2022Overall coordination of project activities and support the efficient and effective implementation of the survey.
\n\u2022Provide high-level feedback to the co-principal and principal investigators on survey progress at least weekly and more often if required.
\n\u2022Contribute and attend study planning and operational meetings.
\n\u2022Facilitate and report any adverse events that may occur to the HSRC Research Ethics Committee.
\n\u2022Management of Provincial Ethics applications and facilitate communication with provincial departments of health regarding the survey.
\n\u2022Develop, monitor and ensure compliance regarding standard operating procedures implemented during the survey.
\n\u2022Provide guidance and support to field teams on the implementation of the survey.
\n\u2022Promote good practices in the implementation of the survey.
\nRequirements
\n\u2022Qualifications: Minimum Master\u2019s degree in Social Sciences.
\n\u2022Have 8-10 years of experience in managing and coordinating SABSSM or similar surveys.
\n\u2022Have 5 years of experience in managing ethical and approval processes for large scale surveys.
\n\u2022Have the ability to multitask and work under pressure.
\n\u2022Have 8-10 years of experience in managing and supervising large teams.
\n\u2022Good report writing skills and publication record.
\n\u2022Good communication and conflict resolutions skills.
\n\u2022Be available for the specified contract period.<\/p>\n
