\nThe Laboratory Technologist is responsible for maintaining Laboratory Systems and conducting Laboratory Procedures for Research Studies. The incumbent will regularly perform work at a higher level of expertise in carrying out difficult, advanced or complex testing and is required to train other Technical Personnel .<\/p>\n
\nLiaising with Stakeholders:<\/strong>
\nLiaise with all Stakeholders when necessary towards the achievement of Organizational and Departmental Goals<\/p>\n
\nEnsuring proper Infection Control by following laid down Procedures in the handling, processing, testing and storage of Specimens
\nReceive, process and test specimens according to laid down procedures .
\nEnsure that Results are transmitted timeously
\nCalibrate, standardise and maintain Instruments according to Manufacturer Procedures
\nPerforming Quality Control to ensure proper functioning of Instruments, Reagents and Procedures
\nRecognise Instrument malfunctions and out of control Test Results and take corrective action
\nPreparing Reagents and Control according to prescribed Procedures
\nShipping of specimens in accordance with laid down procedures<\/p>\n
\nCompiling of Laboratory Statistics
\nOrdering of Laboratory Stock
\nChecking of outstanding Results
\nMaintaining inventory of Laboratory Equipment
\nValidating and reporting Results of Tests performed
\nChecking and reviewing of Results produced by the Laboratory
\nChecking and reviewing of Results from Outsourced Laboratories handing them to the Clinic
\nResponsible for preparation of Laboratory Audits<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nParticipate in proactive Team efforts to achieve Departmental and Company Goals<\/p>\n
\nComply with all safety policies, practices and procedures according to prescribed Procedures and Legislation
\nReport all unsafe activities to Senior Management\/Human Resources
\nAdhere and maintain Decision making authority as allocated to the position<\/p>\n
\nYOU SHOULD HAVE:
\nEducation:
\nNational Diploma in Biomedical Technology ( NQF Level 6) or Bachelor of technology in biomedical technology<\/p>\n
\nRegistration with HPCSA as a medical technologist
\nGCP and GCLP Training<\/p>\n
\nAt least 3 years Laboratory Testing and processing experience
\nAt least 1 year Clinical Research experience<\/p>\n
\nProficient computer literacy skills including Electronic Mail.
\nSA Citizen or valid Work Permit to work in South Africa
\nMinimal\/Moderate\/Excessive overnight travel (up to 30%) by land or air if required
\nWilling to work overtime<\/p>\n
