\nBDO has a vacancy for an Associate Director in Banking\/Lending, specifically in our Financial Services Division in Cape Town.
\nThe Associate Director will be given the responsibility to lead banking and lending audit and advisory engagements. This role will involve taking responsibility for the planning and execution \/ delivery of engagements, leading project \/ audit teams to achieve this and building \/ maintaining key client relationships while delivering on this.
\nIn addition, the Associate Director will be expected to get involved with the day-to-day operations of the Financial Services business unit, which include (but are not limited to) functions such as:
\n\u2022Finance (budget and WIP monitoring and management),
\n\u2022Staff recruitment,
\n\u2022Staff training,
\n\u2022Counselling \/ mentoring audit trainees under the SAICA assessor program,
\n\u2022Audit quality,
\n\u2022Risk management \/ client onboarding, and
\n\u2022Assisting leadership of FS with proactively contributing to setting the FS strategy and then implementing the strategy plan in the Banking\/Lending sector, once approved.
\nWe are looking for candidates who would be:
\n\u2022Able to analyse and make decisions regarding complex accounting, auditing and risk management matters, in particular relating to the Banking\/Lending industry
\n\u2022Able to develop and review high quality working papers, audit files and reports \/ deliverables, and then be able to present the results \/ findings to senior level staff members at BDO (Partners) and at clients (C-level staff and Audit \/ Risk Committee equivalents)
\n\u2022Able to identify key areas of change and subjectivity affecting the industry in South Africa and the United Kingdom, research these areas and summarise internal views and consultations, with a view to providing thought leadership out to the FS market on Banking\/Lending.
\n\u2022Able to maintain a business development mindset and be client liaison for assurance client targets at Tier one clients.
\n\u2022Able to embrace our drive for technological change in the industry and get involved in our audit digitisation projects \u2013 reviewing functional specs and liaising with the digitisation team.
\n\u2022Able to collaborate with the existing FS team as part of a flat reporting structure; and to collaborate with other FS managers, AD\u2019s and Partners across BDO Financial Services.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022B.Com Honours;
\n\u2022CA(SA) qualification
\n\u2022A minimum of 7 years\u2019 post-qualification experience
\n\u2022Specific experience in banking\/lending external audit at a professional services firm, or Financial Services \/ banking work experience outside practice but within the industry
\n\u2022A sound knowledge of and exposure the IASB accounting standards, audit standards (ISA\u2019s) currently in issue, and a wide general knowledge of legislation and regulations that could affect financial reporting in the Financial Services industry. In particular, deep knowledge and experience with the application of IFRS 9, IFRS 13 and all of the ISA\u2019s currently in issuance.<\/p>\n
