\nThe Scientist is responsible for performing laboratory assays or protocol such as PBMC processing, virus neutralization, ELISPOT and flow cytometry assays according to laboratory SOPs, as well as for Research Publications, capacity building and to search for Funding opportunities and thereby secure the relevant Grants<\/p>\n

\nRead, analyse and interpret the most complex Documents and write Research Publications in line with scientific research standards
\nRespond effectively to inquiries or complaints
\nPresent data at internal or external meetings
\nMake effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to Top Management, Public
\nApply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
\nEnsure compliance and application of SOPs
\nPerform quality checks as well as run IQC and EQA as per SOPs<\/p>\n
\nEducation:<\/strong>
\nAppropriate Postgraduate qualification at NQF level 9
\nKnowledge of principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP)
\nCurrent Membership to a relevant Professional Body (HPCSA as biological medical scientist)
\nMasters degree in immunology, virology or Molecular biology.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nKnowledge on the use of specialised instruments or assays (e.g., Flow cytometer, Luminex, Luminometer, molecular assays etc.)
\nKnowledge in working with blood, tissues, body fluids, cell cultures.<\/p>\n
\nAt least 5 years\u2019 experience post Masters degree qualification<\/p>\n
\nKnowledge in immunology, virology or medical sciences, and statistics
\nProficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spread sheet, databases etc
\nSA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa
\nAdvanced computer skills including statistic software for analysis data
\nValid driver\u2019s license
\nOwn car
\nMinimal\/Moderate\/Excessive overnight travel (up to 30%) by land or air if required
