\nTo support the division by facilitating the commercialization of impactful technological innovations, in line with the division\u2019s strategy<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Assist the division to develop divisional budgets and forecasts for EXCO and Board approval.
\n\u2022Monitor and track financial performance against budget (operations and projects)
\n\u2022Manage and monitor the timeous disbursement of funding to ensure optimal operation of technology and innovation projects.
\n\u2022Identify new funding opportunities for TIA investees.
\n\u2022Identify commercialisation opportunities for TIA investees and support in them in match making with the market.
\n\u2022Assist and facilitate the development and execution of commercialization strategies and business models for TIA funded technologies and products.
\n\u2022Support TIA investees with Identifying and approaching potential commercialisation partners.
\n\u2022Conduct pragmatic, market led commercial due diligence on new deals and package for investment.
\n\u2022Manage repayment obligations that projects have to TIA (e.g. equity, royalties, and loans).
\n\u2022Monitor the usage of disbursed funds on a monthly basis.
\n\u2022Analyse the Annual Financial Statements of beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Adherence to all relevant policies, procedures and frameworks is maintained.
\n\u2022Compliance to all TIA systems (fund management, performance management, HR, Finance, stakeholder information, etc.) is maintained.
\n\u2022All portfolio audit matters are resolved.
\n\u2022Agreed turnaround times on key business processes are achieved.
\n\u2022Project information is accurately and completely recorded on the fund management system.
\n\u2022Ensure timeous and accurate reporting as per requirements.
\n\u2022Assist applicants with building a fundable opportunity and to assess Investment opportunities.
\n\u2022Provides support and assistance to projects to achieve their milestones.
\n\u2022Pro-active identification of project risks and portfolio opportunities, together with project teams.
\n\u2022Perform due diligence with a focus on financial, commercial as well as the technical aspects of TIA projects and programs.
\n\u2022All aspects of the project life cycle from sourcing to exit are efficiently managed.
\n\u2022Facilitate commercialisation of TIA projects\/investments.
\n\u2022Build a pipeline of investment opportunities for the business unit.
\n\u2022Perform client-centric and value adding project management of TIA projects\/investments.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Provide input into the formulation of a stakeholder relationship strategy specific to the business unit.
\n\u2022Market TIA funded technologies for market uptake and further investment.
\n\u2022In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications unit, ensure credible success stories are published.
\n\u2022An effective eco-system is built around the portfolio including key stakeholder relations.
\n\u2022Establish and Develop relationships and partnerships with industry, other funders etc. that will enable the portfolio to successful commercialise.
\n\u2022Participate in events, meetings, workshops and conferences by giving input, avail skill, competency and expertise. Participation should result positive input, impact and giving direction in the NSI.
\n\u2022Initiate and participate in thought leadership activities.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Ensure alignment of all work processes to the required quality standards.
\n\u2022Proactively identify continual improvement strategies.
\n\u2022Monitor agreed quality initiatives ensuring that they are aligned to business processes and delivered as agreed.<\/p>\n
\nQualifications and Experience:<\/strong>
\n\u2022Essential: Degree in Science (Materials, Physics, Chemistry) \/ Engineering (Mechanical, Electronic\/Electrical, Computer)
\n\u2022A business qualification (e.g. MBA, MDP, CFA, other professional certifications)
\n\u2022A Master\u2019s Degree in Science (Materials, Physics, Chemistry) \/ Engineering (Mechanical, Electronic\/Electrical, Computer) will be an added advantage
\n\u2022Three (3) \u2013 five (5) years\u2019 in technology\/innovation and\/or investment management, with experience in assisting entrepreneurs\u2019\/HEI\u2019s\/Science councils to progress their high value Intellectual Property (IP) technologies towards commercialisation by raising technology development and commercialisation funding and structuring commercial partnerships.<\/p>\n
