NACOSA is a network of over 2,500 civil society organisations working together to turn the tide on HIV, AIDS, TB and GBV in Southern Africa. NACOSA promotes dialogue, builds capacity with accredited training, mentoring and technical assistance and channels resources to support service delivery on the ground, particularly among children and youth, key populations and women and girls.<\/p>\n
As a principal recipient of the Global Fund and in partnership with USAID and PEPFAR and other public and private sector partners, NACOSA works at all levels \u2013 from international agencies and national government, right though to sub-district services and small, community groups. NACOSA acts as a bridge between people and health and social services. NACOSA\u2019s programmes reach around 270,000 people affected by HIV, AIDS, TB and gender-based violence.<\/p>\n

Job Title: Community Facilitator<\/strong> Job Summary:<\/strong> NACOSA is implementing the Stepping Stones intervention program under the DREAMS program. \nThe Determined, Resilient, Empowered, Aids-free, Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) programme provides a comprehensive package of core interventions to address key factors that make adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) particularly vulnerable to HIV. These include structural factors, such as gender-based violence, exclusion from economic opportunities, and a lack of access to secondary school. DREAMS layers multiple interventions at once so that AGYW are surrounded with critical support to keep them safe from HIV and other risks.<\/p>\n
\nNACOSA is looking for a suitable candidate within South Africa to deliver on the implementation of the DREAMS program focusing on the delivery of Stepping Stones group-based intervention.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Have knowledge of Recruitment strategies and be able to recruitment of participants, door to door and via networking at community level, etc.
\n\u2022Understand what demand creation is and be able to do demand creation activities
\n\u2022Reside in the Northern, Southern or Eastern sub-districts of Cape Town and willing to travel within sub-districts
\n\u2022Implementing the Stepping Stones curriculum with out of school girls and aged 15-19 years; 20 to 24 year old females and the partners of the aforementioned girls aged 20 to 49 years in their own communities and facilitate group training sessions
\n\u2022Be an ambassador for the DREAMS programme, NACOSA and woman and children\u2019s rights
\n\u2022Contribute to the development of a comprehensive referral network of prevention and aftercare resources and providers i.e. socio-economic, medical, legal, etc.
\n\u2022Conduct and collect basic M&E data from participants
\n\u2022Liaise with local child safety, gender-based violence organizations, stakeholders, government sources, other DREAMS partners and schools to ensure active linkages and layering of services.<\/p>\n
\nRequired qualifications, skills and experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n
\n\u2022Currently trained in Stepping Stones evidence based intervention (Preferred)
\n\u2022Practical experience working with group-facilitation (advantageous)
\n\u2022Practical experience working within gender based violence programmes (advantageous)
\n\u2022Read, write, and speak in two official South African languages, of which one must be English
\n\u2022Good presentation, communication and inter-personal skills
\n\u2022Proven strong leadership and ambassadorial skills
\n\u2022The ability to think critically
\n\u2022A valid driver\u2019s license (Advantageous)<\/p>\n
