\nThe primary purpose of the IFRS Technical Manager role is assistance with providing technical accounting support to audit and advisory teams (internally); developing training material and presenting training internally and to external clients as well as preparation for and participation in local and global technical accounting specialist groups. Focus will be specifically on technical accounting matters impacting the Financial Services sector.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Technical accounting consultations with audit teams and\/or clients
\n\u2022Draft technical accounting opinions
\n\u2022Draft and distribute communications regarding changes to IFRS methodology, tools, standards and procedures
\n\u2022Draft thought leadership articles for internal and external publication
\n\u2022Assistance on implementation projects for new standards (advisory engagements), mostly IFRS 17
\n\u2022Prepare and present IFRS training to staff as well as clients
\n\u2022Take responsibility of the necessary client engagement management activities from start to finish (e.g. client onboarding, including the relevant risk management procedures; WIP monitoring and invoicing)<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Analyse transactions and develop views on the appropriate IFRS treatment of such transactions, based on research conducted
\n\u2022Make decisions regarding acceptable accounting treatment in fairly straightforward accounting queries
\n\u2022Develop and present technical accounting training material
\n\u2022Research new accounting standards and publications and summarise internal views and consultations
\n\u2022Work as part of an integrated growing team<\/p>\n
\n\u2022B.Com Honours; CA (SA)
\n\u20221 to 4 years\u2019 post-qualification experience within the financial services industry, experience within the insurance industry will be an advantage.
\n\u2022Experience in a technical accounting role, whether within professional services or within a financial services corporate.
\n\u2022A sound knowledge of and exposure to all IASB accounting standards that may be applicable to entities within the financial services industry as well as a wide general knowledge of legislation and regulations that could affect financial reporting.<\/p>\n
