\nThe Assistant Resident Engineers will be responsible for the day-to-day surveillance and inspection of construction activities. The Assistant Resident Engineers will manage the works and supervise that all construction is in accordance with the design intent and specifications and are completed to schedule and with minimal disruption to operations.
\nThe Assistant Resident Engineer is a specialist who will plan and undertake and \/ or verify inspection and testing of processes and\/or infrastructure so as to ensure conformance with agreed specifications and standards requirements and will strive to assure that the works are constructed in accordance with the design requirements. The Assistant Resident Engineer works with the established project standards for review and acceptance of the Contractors\u2019 Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA \/ QC) plans.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022Fully acquainted with the scope of the contract, the schedule, the technical specifications and commercial aspects of the contract.
\n\u2022Attend the kick-off and site meetings. Chair and record each meeting in the absence of the Resident Engineer.
\n\u2022Review and comment on Contractor\u2019s planning as required under the contract and monitor and control compliance.
\n\u2022Attend and participate in Construction Risk Assessment Workshops.
\n\u2022Maintain records of site activities in the form of a site daily diary.
\n\u2022Provide all reasonable assistance to the contractors in the execution of their Works.
\n\u2022Minimize interface problems by coordinating the operations of the different works.
\n\u2022Liaise with the CMS team (including the Design Office) to ensure the timely availability of drawings, technical data and free-issue materials and equipment.
\n\u2022Issue written site instructions (as delegated by the Resident Engineer) to the Contractor as required.
\n\u2022Monitor procurement progress on materials supplied by the Contractor.
\n\u2022Adjust the construction order or methodology in the field to minimize the effect of delays, when practical.
\n\u2022Monitor resources employed by the Contractor, including number and caliber of staff, field personnel and equipment.
\n\u2022Compile and track the status of punch lists as each contract or work section nears completion.
\n\u2022Co-ordinate any site surveying requirements.
\n\u2022Co-ordinate the resolution of site technical queries.
\n\u2022Prepare field sketches as required for records of changes or for clarification.
\n\u2022Collect and collate Contractor\u2019s as-built drawings and manuals.
\n\u2022Assist with quantity measurements for payment purposes.
\n\u2022Assist in the site document control function and distribute all engineering documents to appropriate Contractor\u2019s personnel.
\n\u2022Monitor the Contractor\u2019s and supplier\u2019s quality of work, procedures, installation of material and equipment for quality control compliance.
\n\u2022Inspect and document acceptance of construction activities and installations and assist with the preparation of practical completion documentation and handover packages; and
\n\u2022Compile weekly non-conformance reports.
