WSP operates in a discipline model where project teams are located in dispersed locations and collaborate virtually to deliver project designs. The Design model performs a variety of civil engineering design activities including 3D modelling of engineering designs and associated preparation of preliminary through to wayleave and construction drawings for projects, establishing guidelines and procedures and managing workload distribution within the Design team. The incumbent must be familiar with both the collaborative Autodesk Suite and Bentley Suite of design software tools. Proven competence in engineering design and high level-of-detail 3D modelling of major and minor road schemes including interchanges and roundabouts, site earthworks, drainage, wet and dry utilities and civil structures. The incumbent must have proven competence in 3D BIM model federation, with clash detection and resolution, whilst being able to develop and interpret civil engineering detail design work under the guidance of the professional engineer or professional technologist<\/p>\n

\nAble to perform designs using one of the following vendor\u2019s suites of engineering software tools;
\n1.Bentley Suite \u2013 Roads, site and drainage modelling using Bentley OpenRoads, and CAD production thereof using Bentley Microstation V8i, together with document management using Bentley ProjectWise.
\n2.AutoDesk Suite \u2013 Roads, site and drainage + utilities modelling using Autodesk Civil 3D 2018-2021, and CAD production thereof using Civil 3D (AutoCAD), together with hydraulic analysis using Devotech iDAS. Mastery of Autodesk InfraWorks, Navisworks, Revit Structures and BIM 360 are also required.
\nDesign tasks include Highways and Civil Engineering modelling and engineering designs including
\n\u2014Site earthworks modelling for property developments, mining and infrastructure
\n\u2014Utilities modelling (sewer, water, stormwater) \u2013 Bulk services and site services
\n\u2014Major and minor road corridor modelling, including intersections, roundabouts and interchanges (using corridor modelling techniques and NOT site modelling or feature line modelling techniques)
\n\u2014Custom sub-assembly development for Civil 3D using subassembly composer
\n\u2014Multi-disciplinary model federation using BIM360 and Navisworks, with clash detection and resolution
\n\u2014Guide, mentor and train digital engineering team members
\n\u2014Manage a team of BIM Modellers including model and drawing quality control and ensuring that the team meets project deliverables
\n\u20143D Visualisation of engineering designs (roads, civil structures, infrastructure) using Infraworks 2021+ connected to Civil 3D data sources
\n\u2014Produce and guide team on 2D CAD output to local, provincial and national authority standards (CoJ, CoT, GDRT, SANRAL, etc)
\n\u2014Produce and guide team on 3D BIM output to ISO19650 and\/or localized international standards including British standards for rail and highways
\n\u2014Development and maintenance of Civil 3D and Bentley Openroads standards across a distributed design team, including custom sub-assembly creation using Sub-assembly Composer<\/p>\n
\nQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
\nBSc Civil Eng, BEng, B Tech or Diploma in Engineering, or suitable work experience to cover the role requirements as per above.
\n2 to 6 years relevant experience in modelling and design of highways, roads and civil services infrastructure at an advanced level
\nHighly competent with civil engineering design using both AutoDesk Civil 3D or Bentley OpenRoads, as well as high end CAD production in both to local, provincial, national as well as international standards (UK).
