\nThe Medical Technologist is responsible for maintaining Laboratory Systems and conducting Laboratory Procedures for Research Studies. The incumbent will regularly perform work at a higher level of expertise in carrying out difficult, advanced or complex testing and is required to train other Technical\/Professional Personnel and\/or functions.<\/p>\n
\nLiaise with Stakeholders:
\nLiaise with all Stakeholders when necessary towards the achievement of Organizational and Departmental Goals
\nStakeholder engagement
\nMake appropriate logistical arrangements for Meetings\/Events
\nLaboratory Systems and Procedures:
\nEnsuring proper Infection Control by following laid down Procedures in the handling and storage of Bio-Hazardous Specimens and Materials
\nPreparing Reagents and Control according to prescribed Procedures
\nShipping of specimens in accordance with SOPs, IATA and Donor requirements
\nStorage of specimens according to SSP
\nLogging Specimen Data on LIMS
\nAssist in the drafting of Laboratory SOPs
\nGeneral Administration:
\nCompiling of Laboratory Statistics
\nOrdering of Laboratory and Clinic Stock
\nOverseeing shipping of Specimens locally and internationally
\nChecking of outstanding Results
\nLIMS back- up and export of Data weekly
\nHuman Capital Management:
\nParticipate in proactive Team efforts to achieve Departmental and Company Goals<\/p>\n
\nEducation:<\/strong>
\nA Medical Technologist qualification at NQF level 6 or 7 (National diploma)
\nRegistration with the HPCSA as a Medical Technologist in Clinical Pathologist or Microbiology<\/p>\n
\nGCP certificate<\/p>\n
\nAt least 3 years Laboratory processing experience
\nClinical or Research experience in TB\/HIV care
\nAn understanding of HIV\/Aids<\/p>\n
\nRegistration with the HPCSA as a Medical Technologist in Clinical Pathologist or Microbiology
\nFluency in local languages (Setswana, English, SeSotho, Xhosa, Afrikaans)
\nProficient computer literacy skills including Electronic Mail, Record Keeping and routine Database Activity, Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Graphics
\nSA Citizen or valid Work Permit to work in South Africa
\nDrivers Licence
\nMinimal\/Moderate\/Excessive overnight travel (up to 30%) by land or air if required
\nWilling to work overtime<\/p>\n
