Job Title: Substation Engineer – Secondary Plant<\/strong> Job Summary:<\/strong> Registration as a professional engineer with ECSA is preferred. Up to 50% travel to clients, sites and manufacturers premises is envisaged. \nPrimarily functioning as a Protection and Control engineer for transmission, distribution and renewable energy projects. The candidate should be experienced in secondary plant substation design.<\/p>\n
\n\u2014Prepare functional designs, specifications, bills of quantity and tender documents for substation protection and control system to internationally accepted standards for clients in Southern Africa and internationally; under the supervision of a senior engineer
\n\u2014Preparation of reports, calculations, and drawings to stakeholder requirements
\n\u2014Participation in tender evaluation process
\n\u2014Review detailed designs of substation protection and control systems submitted by contractors against specifications
\n\u2014Attend meetings with project stakeholders and prepare minutes
\n\u2014Site audits and inputs to Project Scoping
\n\u2014Provide project engineering support during the construction and commissioning phase of transmission and distribution projects including responding to technical queries, factory inspection and witnessing the testing of substation equipment, review of routine and type test results and reports and monitoring progress of construction on site
\n\u2014Preparation and review of project scope, methodology, schedules, and budget for proposals for consultancy services
\n\u2014Maintaining relationships with internal divisions, external contractors and clients<\/p>\n
\n\u2014Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behavior consistent with the company\u2019s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you
\n\u2014Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm
\n\u2014Embracing, displaying, and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times<\/p>\n
\nQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:<\/strong>
\nBSc Engineering (Electrical) or BTech Engineering (Electrical) with at least 2 years engineering experience.
\nAn interest in solar and wind Renewable energy projects will be beneficial
\nProject Management experience will be beneficial
\nECSA registration is preferred<\/p>\n
\nMinimum 2 years\u2019 experience in the substation protection and control system design
\nAbility to work within a team of engineers
\nGood communication skills
\nGood technical report writing skills
\nAbility to manage time, quality and effort in order to deliver a quality product within time and cost constraints
\nAbility to work under pressure
\nMust be able to function independently<\/p>\n
