Job Title: IT Technician<\/strong> Job Summary:<\/strong> Job Responsibilities:<\/strong> Undertakes the loading and installation of workstations, laptops, and peripherals Undertakes the installation of data equipment, including data racks, patch panels, cable trays, etc. Desired Experience & Qualification:<\/strong> Desired Skills & Personal Attributes: <\/strong> Behavioural Qualities:<\/strong><\/p>\n Able to work under pressure with minimum supervision.

\nDuties & Responsibilities:<\/strong>
\nNetwork Cabling Technicians assemble and arrange material and equipment, explain and verify service orders, drawings, specifications, particular needs, and instructions, run, pull, stop and splice copper and fiber optic cables, such as CAT5, SE, CAT6, low voltage cables, and fiber, mount telecom equipment while adhering to best practices, industry standards, and manufacturer requirements, aid in arranging routers, hubs, install support structures, including racks, ladders, and j-hooks, and switches using data provided by all teams within the organization, install access control systems and surveillance cameras, and maintain good relations with clients by listening to and then sorting out their issues or escalating the same to their seniors<\/p>\n
\nThe successful candidate will be responsible to provide leadership, technical direction and guidance including but not limited to the following:<\/p>\n
\nutilizes appropriate testing equipment to test installed cables
\nprovides documentation of all information on all cable and equipment
\nimproves upon existing installation and troubleshooting procedures
\nPerforms cabling installations, including New Commercial Data, Voice, Fiber Optic and Paging
\nDrives a company vehicle and operates a variety of tools, such as hand tools, power tools, ladders, leakage detection devices, scissor lifts, and test equipment
\nProvides education to customers on the proper use of all installed equipment and address customer concerns
\nCarries out customer instruction on System Operation and Functionality
\nTests systems and performs signal verification
\nAdheres to safety policies and procedures and reports all accidents, hazards, and equipment problems
\nTakes responsibility for installing new cables in new or existing buildings
\nPerforms termination and testing of new cabling
\nResponsible for setting up new telecommunications frames
\nInstalls Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and fiber optic cabling systems
\nBuilds and installs racks, dresses, and terminates closets, carries out tests and troubleshoots
\nLabels, pulls, and terminates cable.
\nPerforms maintenance on cable systems by installing, repairing, programming, and upgrading cable infrastructure
\nPerforms preventive maintenance and repairs by troubleshooting cabling system issues
\nApplies established procedures in testing every newly installed or relocated cable
\nKeeps cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standard
\nDocuments time and materials expended on work assignment daily
\nCompletes required paperwork, such as: installation checklist, timesheets, service orders, vehicle inspection report and various other logs
\nPromotes environmental, health, and safety policies within the workplace
\nPerforms installation and routine maintenance of structured cabling systems
\nWorks at heights, poles, and small confined spaces.
\nWorks outdoors and in inclement weather conditions
\nInstalls devices for alarm, fire, access, and automation systems.<\/p>\n
\nQualifications and Experience Required:<\/strong>
\nGrade 12 National Certificate.
\nBTech\/N-Dip in Information Technology, Communication Networks, or a related qualification
\nNetworking knowledge
\nMaintenance and support of network and computer infrastructure.
\nProvide remote support to branches in resolving problems with equipment, software, and data.
\nA+ or N+ or other relevant ICT certificate.
\nDesign and implement internal network infrastructure (LAN)
\nWillingness to travel extensively
\nGood communication and people skills.
\n2 – 3 years experience in a similar role
\nVoIP experience
\nMS Office Experience
\nNeeds to be trustworthy, confidential, and reliable
\nIT Security (Firewalls, EDR, Software services and Security Policy)
\nNetworking TCP\/IP to Layer 3, design, and implementation
\nAutoCAD<\/p>\n
\nComputer literate with knowledge of Ms Word, Excel etc.
