The position exists to provide hands on day-to-day technical support for all customer hosted IS&T systems, Revenue management solutions, SQL Servers & Windows Servers. Provide support in the development and implementation of policy and procedures for Services.<\/p>\n

Job Title: Services Technician<\/strong> Technical Support:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7 Respond to phone\/e-mail inquiries within 24 hours of receipt<\/p>\n \u00b7 Provide day-to-day technical support for all the client and third-party products<\/p>\n \u00b7 Assist with setting up lab environments per customer \/ tender specifications<\/p>\n \u00b7 Provide basic training on core applications<\/p>\n \u00b7 Install, configure and troubleshoot the MS operating systems and products installed on those systems<\/p>\n \u00b7 Update incident entries with clear informative written English, without jargon or the use of acronyms<\/p>\n \u00b7 Interface when necessary with Infrastructure Engineering to obtain any assistance required<\/p>\n Test Systems:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7 Deploy test all new software received from Engineering & interface to developers with the purpose of ensuring continuing service and fault finding and product design & the ability to perform SQL Integration<\/p>\n \u00b7 Interface to suppliers with the purpose of ensuring continuing service and fault finding<\/p>\n \u00b7 Assist with setting up lab environments per customer \/ tender specifications<\/p>\n \u00b7 Assist with testing and documenting customer specific installation procedures<\/p>\n \u00b7 Assist with setting up customer environments for training purposes<\/p>\n \u00b7 Maintain effective deployment testing strategy<\/p>\n \u00b7 Maintain existing customer environments in the lab, making sure they are available when required for support or training purposes<\/p>\n Reporting:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7 Provide monthly reports on customer activity<\/p>\n \u00b7 Log all times correctly and efficiently<\/p>\n \u00b7 Feedback new customer requirements through to correct channels<\/p>\n \u00b7 Create scripts and electronic reports (Web & Application) for the company database systems<\/p>\n Corporate Contribution:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7 Constructively participate as a member of the wider team<\/p>\n \u00b7 Undertake any other tasks or one-off projects which may be assigned from time to time<\/p>\n \u00b7 Ensure protection of the company\u2019s commercial interests always and in all circumstances<\/p>\n \u00b7 Take all practicable steps to ensure personal safety and the safety of others as a matter of priority<\/p>\n \u00b7 Demonstrate professional skill and a high standard of fairness and integrity<\/p>\n Qualifications and experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7 Matric<\/p>\n \u00b7 Diploma or Degree in Computer Systems Engineering, Information technology, Systems Support or related qualification<\/p>\n \u00b7 CompTIA A+ (PC Technician), CompTIA N+ (Network) or MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate)<\/p>\n \u00b7 At least 2 years\u2019 experience in a call centre \/ help desk environment, systems and application support<\/p>\n \u00b7 Experience with service level agreements and maintenance<\/p>\n \u00b7 Experience in networking and telecoms covering Microsoft applications<\/p>\n \u00b7 Experience with database platforms, GSM and radio networking<\/p>\n \u00b7 Experience in the utilities or electrical industry is advantageous<\/p>\n The following indicates what would typically be expected for this role at a competent level:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7 Knowledge of prepayment metering products<\/p>\n \u00b7 Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Desktop and server applications<\/p>\n \u00b7 Knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals and basic networking (LAN, VPN)<\/p>\n \u00b7 SQL report writing skills<\/p>\n \u00b7 Excellent written and verbal communication skills \u2013 especially writing professional reports<\/p>\n \u00b7 Strong telephonic and email etiquette<\/p>\n \u00b7 Information technology system support skills<\/p>\n \u00b7 Excellent Microsoft Office skills<\/p>\n \u00b7 Negotiation and networking skills<\/p>\n \u00b7 Professional approach<\/p>\n \u00b7 Commitment to customer service<\/p>\n \u00b7 High level of integrity and confidentiality<\/p>\n \u00b7 Able to work under pressure<\/p>\n \u00b7 Highly self-motivated<\/p>\n
