Our client is looking for an IT Lecturer for their Cape Town campus.<\/p>\n

Job Title: IT Lecturer<\/strong> Job Summary<\/strong>: Pastoral care:<\/strong>
\nLocation:<\/strong> Cape Town<\/p>\n
\nDuties & Responsibilities:<\/strong>
\nGeneral:<\/strong>
\nPreparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
\nSetting and grading assignments, tests, and exams.
\nAttending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events in and outside of the Institution.
\nAll academic staff are expected to engage in activities associated with the Institution’s promotion, marketing, and public outreach.
\nContribute to student recruitment, placements, and student retention.
\nAdministrative duties in areas such as admissions, timetabling, examinations, and assessment of progress and student attendance.
\nCollaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
\nParticipating in training opportunities and initiatives at the Institution.
\nStaying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.
\nConducting research, and writing papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
\nDevelop ideas for generating income and promoting the Institution.
\nDevelop ideas and find ways of disseminating and applying the result of scholarship.
\nStudent learning experience:
\nUse appropriate learning, teaching, support and assessment methods.
\nDeveloping curricula and course material that can be used across several platforms.
\nSupervise student projects and the academic elements of field trips, and, where appropriate, placements,
\nIdentify areas where current provision requires revision or improvement and contribute to the planning, design and development of objectives and material.
\nSelect appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria and provide constructive feedback to students.
\nEnsure that module design and delivery comply with quality standards and regulations of the University.<\/p>\n
\nBe responsible for the pastoral care of students within a specified area.
\nProviding support to other colleagues.
\nAct as a mentor, giving first-line support to students.
\nAppreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances.
\nUse listening, interpersonal and pastoral care skills to deal with sensitive issues concerning students and provide support.
\nRefer students as appropriate to services providing further support.
\nDepending on work area (for example, laboratories, workshops, studios), conduct risk assessments, take steps to reduce hazards and take responsibility for the health and safety of self and others.
\nAct as a responsible team member, leading where agreed, and develop productive working relationships with other staff members.
\nDesired Experience & Qualification
\nA relevant Honours degree (NQF 8) in related field of study with sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the related field.
\nBSc honours degree for IT lecturer
\nA relevant Master’s degree (NQF 9) or near completion of a Master’s degree would be advantageous.
\nPrevious teaching experience (contact, blended and distance learning).
\nPublished work would be advantageous.
\nFlexibility, resilience, and willingness to work extended hours to reach deliverables.
\nStrong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
\nWhere applicable\/mandatory, professional registration with a relevant Board.<\/p>\n
