MTN South Africa is looking for a Specialist: Transmission Planning<\/strong><\/p>\n Job mission <\/strong><\/p>\n Design and Optimisation of the Transmission Systems within the Core, IP and Access networks in line with the business requirements of MTN SA in order to provide the end customer with reliable and international quality communications and service. Plan the Transmission Systems according to Radio, Core and IP requirements . Manage the Self Provisioning initiative and existing 3rd Party business relationships<\/p>\n KPA duties<\/strong><\/p>\n Task Complexity: <\/strong><\/p>\n Strategy Development<\/p>\n \u2022Contribute to the definition of the transmission network strategy and architecture clearly describing the future vision for transmission and identifying key decision points to enable this vision to be achieved<\/p>\n \u2022Participate in the translation of the transmission strategy and architecture into long range plans<\/p>\n \u2022Assist in formulating inputs towards technology strategy.<\/p>\n \u2022Assist in delivering a target Product and Services architecture with a 3 year time horizon taking global technology developments into consideration<\/p>\n Planning & Delivery<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022Responsible for the timely planning of all Transmission networks within MTN e.g. PTP \/ PMP microwave networks, Fibre networks, RANO networks, DXX \/ SDH networks, etc.<\/p>\n \u2022Assist in defining 1-year budget<\/p>\n \u2022Manage design guidelines for regional transmission resources<\/p>\n \u2022Ensure translation of high level plan to low level design<\/p>\n \u2022Prioritise access\/core transmission network growth<\/p>\n \u2022Drive execution of near term plans<\/p>\n \u2022Forecast capacity and traffic and align with Radio, Core & IP plans and with strategy and roadmap<\/p>\n \u2022Ensure correct planning of Transmission w.r.t fixed and mobile operator interconnections where required<\/p>\n \u2022Plan transport capacity across access, backhaul and backbone infrastructure to support all of MTN\u2019s bandwidth requirements<\/p>\n \u2022Evaluate new Access and Core Backbone Transmission Network Equipment and Specifications<\/p>\n \u2022Identify geographical location for equipment to be installed<\/p>\n \u2022Request funding and issue request for purchasing (RfP) to vendor, verify bill of material and confirm order of equipment and services<\/p>\n \u2022Verify configuration<\/p>\n \u2022Ensure implementation of Transmission plans is carried out fully with a smooth handover to Network Operations for cutover and integration into the live network<\/p>\n \u2022Ensure that policies, procedures and quality standards are adhered to in the planning process<\/p>\n Network Optimisation & Performance<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022Ensure quality objectives are met and maintained<\/p>\n \u2022Ensure future proof transmission plans to guarantee deliverables are met according to customer requirements both internal and external<\/p>\n \u2022Track and report on performance problems and performance improvements on division level<\/p>\n \u2022Investigate performance issues and identify changes required on division level<\/p>\n \u2022Review design and drive optimisation changes<\/p>\n \u2022Tender evaluations and formulations<\/p>\n \u2022Provide high level support on the planned network\/technologies<\/p>\n Communication and co-ordination<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022Ensure communication of plans and integration of feedback<\/p>\n \u2022Prepare implementation and integration documentation<\/p>\n \u2022Co-operate with and support of other network group departments at all levels<\/p>\n \u2022Manage and interface with other areas of the MTN business outside of the transmission department as required for successful planning and implementation (e.g. with Suppliers, 3rd Parties, local Transmission Engineers and Business & Logistics department to ensure that contracts from a technical perspective are negotiated in the best interest of MTN)<\/p>\n \u2022Interface with regulator<\/p>\n \u2022Provide high level planning support function and representation (technical) for Transmission planning departments in MTN Group Operations<\/p>\n Financial Management<\/p>\n \u2022Continuously strive to identify and eliminate non-contributory expenditure<\/p>\n and implementation (e.g. with Suppliers, 3rd Parties, local Transmission Engineers and Business & Logistics department to ensure that contracts from a technical perspective are negotiated in the best interest of MTN)<\/p>\n \u2022Interface with regulator<\/p>\n \u2022Provide high level planning support function and representation (technical) for Transmission planning departments in MTN Group Operations<\/p>\n Financial Management<\/p>\n \u2022Continuously strive to identify and eliminate non-contributory expenditure<\/p>\n Educational requirements <\/strong><\/p>\n Education:<\/p>\n B Degree or National Technical Diploma with relevant experience<\/p>\n Experience required<\/strong><\/p>\n Experience:<\/p>\n Over 10 years in Telecommunications, with at least 3 years experience as a Transmission Planning specialist.
