S\/He will manage the lifestyle team, including section editors from a variety of lifestyle topics. Creating and executing special lifestyle projects and events to maintain News24 Life as a premium lifestyle news destination is critical.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key responsibilities: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role)<\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Maintain the strong editorial voice and tone of News24 Life, which reflects the aspirations and interests of the target audience;<\/li>\n<li>Manage, plan, and build on the News24 Life content strategy and vision as a premium and trusted news destination;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all lifestyle content (including Arts &amp; Entertainment, Books, Relationships, Wellness, Travel, Food, Wine, and Motoring) drive traffic to the site and contribute to News24&#8217;s subscription model;<\/li>\n<li>Align editorial goals with company strategic direction;<\/li>\n<li>Have a sound ethical approach to content creation and publication;<\/li>\n<li>Leverage technology and multimedia capabilities to create, manage, and publish high-quality video content and podcasts;<\/li>\n<li>Create and implement a daily, weekly and monthly editorial calendar to increase traffic to the site and drive subscriptions;<\/li>\n<li>Source and create features, ensuring all copy is delivered within stipulated deadlines and to standard, rejecting copy that is not on brief or standard;<\/li>\n<li>Manage, coordinate and drive daily uploading of relevant, fresh, accurate, premium lifestyle content, ensuring that content is loaded correctly with the correct meta tagging and meta descriptions;<\/li>\n<li>In conjunction with the publisher, drive initiatives, special projects, events, and other opportunities to grow the News24 Life brand;<\/li>\n<li>Manage employee performance and daily duties, including setting expectations, providing clear feedback and coaching for improvement;<\/li>\n<li>Manage all administration related to freelance contracts and invoicing;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the site is meeting its targets in terms of unique users, page impressions, revenue and subscription targets;<\/li>\n<li>Analyse site traffic and constantly look to improve and grow traffic through modifying editorial coverage, improving packaging etc;<\/li>\n<li>Provide monthly reports and analysis on News24 Life&#8217;s performance using various data sources;<\/li>\n<li>Oversee and grow social networking and other content distribution channels;<\/li>\n<li>Create, manage, and deliver regular newsletters and mailers on various topics;<\/li>\n<li>Manage relationships with the industry, partners and sister publications;<\/li>\n<li>Stay abreast of current industry standards and techniques, changing internet technology, journalism trends and the competition, to ensure effective content that achieves the publication&#8217;s goals;<\/li>\n<li>In conjunction with the publisher, drive innovative growth opportunities and constantly seek opportunities to build and extend the brand&#8217;s online presence.<\/li>\n<li>Must have an established network of contacts in the South African arts and entertainment industry to ensure knowledge of news, launches and events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Tertiary qualification in journalism, languages or media studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>5-7 years editorial experience and in online editing<\/li>\n<li>Prior experience working with Google Analytics and other data tools<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience in leading a team<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of or experience with a variety of lifestyle topics<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience in breaking stories and generating exclusives<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Skills and competencies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Interest in news and other trending topics;<\/li>\n<li>Be able to switch between fast news and in-depth features;<\/li>\n<li>Be pressure resilient;<\/li>\n<li>Be result orientated;<\/li>\n<li>Creativity and innovative thinking<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills;<\/li>\n<li>Experience in video and audio;<\/li>\n<li>Good interpersonal skills;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent attention to detail;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent journalistic skills;<\/li>\n<li>Problem-solving ability is important;<\/li>\n<li>Have great planning, organising, and administration skills;<\/li>\n<li>Understand data analysis for reports;<\/li>\n<li>Have sound judgment and ethics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>To Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.careers24.com\/login\/?returnurl=\/jobs\/apply\/2037298\"><strong>Click Here!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> July 06 2023<\/p>\n<p>Given the employment equity policy of Media24, preference will be given to suitable<br \/>\ncandidates from the designated groups.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Media24 is South Africa\u2019s leading media company with interests in digital media and services, newspapers, magazines, ecommerce, book publishing, print and distribution.
