The Shift Supervisor is responsible to lead the team at all times and take the necessary decisions promptly.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Educational Qualifications<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Matric (Grade 12) &#8211; Maths and Science required pass at higher grade<\/li>\n<li>Certificate in Technical discipline or Production-related fields (NQF 5)<\/li>\n<li>Diploma in Technical discipline or Production-related fields (NQF 6) &#8211; Required<\/li>\n<li>Trade Test (NQF 5) &#8211; Advantageous<\/li>\n<li>Certificate in First Line Management (FLMP) (NQF 5) &#8211; Advantageous<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Experience<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>5 years\u2019 experience in Production \/ Maintenance operations in a Manufacturing environment of which 2 years\u2019 should be at Supervisory level<\/li>\n<li>Up to 3 years\u2019 experience in working Shifts \u2013 Advantageous<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY RESULTS AREAS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Production Operations and Control<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Achieve production targets through the optimum use and application of resources and skills<\/li>\n<li>Ensures production operational effectiveness, efficiency and quality to achieve targets in accordance with timeframes \/ schedules<\/li>\n<li>Ensures open communication channels with relevant Departments to ensure highest standards of product quality is manufactured<\/li>\n<li>Completes, processes and updates all Production records and related documentation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Maintenance Operations and Control<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Ensures effective and preventative maintenance are performed on all plant \/ infrastructure \/ equipment as required, to limit potential failure and optimise production processes<\/li>\n<li>Coordinates first line maintenance to restrict or prevent plant \/ equipment downtime<\/li>\n<li>Raises job cards for all maintenance work required, ensure work permits are included (work permits for \u201chot work\u201d, vessel entry and elevated work to be escalated to Manager for approval)<\/li>\n<li>Approves all job cards after maintenance work is completed successfully<\/li>\n<li>Ensures that equipment and work areas are safe, maintained by Operators, and that housekeeping principles are adhered to at all times<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Compliance<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Operates within controls and procedures in order to ensure the integrity of Group<\/li>\n<li>Identifies and reports risks or areas of concern to management within own department and area of responsibility<\/li>\n<li>Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures to prevent fruitless, wasteful and irregular expenditure<\/li>\n<li>Strictly adheres to, complies with and assumes responsibility for enforcing Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, regulation toward minimizing risk, exposure, incidents or damage to the organisation and environment in any form or manner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Customer Service<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Maintains effective working relationships with customers (both internal and external) towards rendering highest quality of services<\/li>\n<li>Represents Group in meetings with relevant stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Identifies and solves problems creatively whilst demonstrating a high level of integrity in line with Group core values<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Staff Supervision<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Ensures that all employees have signed performance agreements<\/li>\n<li>Monitors and measures performance quarterly by conducting employee appraisals<\/li>\n<li>In collaboration with HR, identify staff performance objectives, potential areas of development and action plans where necessary<\/li>\n<li>Ensures ongoing training and development of employees<\/li>\n<li>Addresses employee relations matters fairly and promptly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cost and Financial Control<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Contributes to the budget preparation process<\/li>\n<li>Promotes and communicates the effective, efficient, economical and transparent use of financial and other resources<\/li>\n<li>Monitors and controls expenditure against budget and ensures spending occurs within budgetary limits and Group financial guidelines, report deviations to direct Manager<\/li>\n<li>Explores opportunities to control and reduce costs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>OHS Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Inspection and sign off on all safety equipment<\/li>\n<li>Blood lead counselling for employees with high blood lead levels<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring that all employees have the correct permits when doing specialized eg: working at heights and confined spaces<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all employees have proper sign off for the tasks that are undertaken.<\/li>\n<li>Ensures that his team wears the correct PPE and uses it correctly in order to minimize exposure to lead acid dust.<\/li>\n<li>Be aware of all equipment safety issues and is constantly aware of high speed machinery which may pose a risk in order to ensure the safety of his team and colleagues, bypass safety systems where necessary for operational reasons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIRED SKILLS<\/u><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite; SAP; ERP and other job-specific software systems).<\/li>\n<li>In-depth knowledge of Plant production and maintenance practices, procedures and processes.<\/li>\n<li>Sound understanding of compliance with applicable legislation, safety and other related manufacturing regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Communication skills (both verbal and
