{"id":8757,"date":"2012-11-05T16:50:17","date_gmt":"2012-11-05T14:50:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=8757"},"modified":"2012-11-06T02:02:30","modified_gmt":"2012-11-06T00:02:30","slug":"university-of-south-africa-senior-researcher","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/university-of-south-africa-senior-researcher.html","title":{"rendered":"University of South Africa: Senior Researcher"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The purpose of the position is to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Initiate, stimulate and participate in individual and collaborative ODL research and research projects.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct ODL research in order to produce at least four accredited research outputs in a period of three years, thereby enhancing the University\u2019s standing as a research institute of international repute.<\/li>\n<li>Organise\u00a0conferences, seminars and research colloquia in ODL.<\/li>\n<li>Assist and where appropriate supervise postgraduate students.<\/li>\n<li>Provide support and contribute to ODL capacity development.<\/li>\n<li>Be involved in community engagement and academic citizenship.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to achieving the department\u2019s strategic and operational objectives through the above-mentioned\u00a0endeavours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A\u00a0<em>minimum<\/em>\u00a0of a Master&#8217;s Degree in Education, E-learning, distance education or related fields and an intention to register for a PhD\/Doctorate (in ODL education or e-learning).<\/li>\n<li>Must have at least three years teaching or research experience in a higher education institution, preparing learning resources and using a range of technologies.<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated potential to do and publish research and present papers.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of ODL, e-learning and distance education theories and praxis.\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to participate in collaborative research activities.<\/li>\n<li>Skills needed: presentation, conduct data analysis and use data analysis software e.g.\u00a0Atlas.ti\u00a0or SPSS.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of two accredited research outputs over the preceding five years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Recommendations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Proven experience in a range of research methodologies and data analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to geographically relocate for short-term periods as a visiting researcher.<\/li>\n<li>Proven research publication record.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in the organization of events, seminars, colloquia.<\/li>\n<li>Proven track record to attract research funding.<\/li>\n<li>NRF rating<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Identifies, develops research proposals and conducts individual and collaborative multi-, inter- and trans- disciplinary (MIT) reflexive research on the impact of teaching and learning in an ODL context.<\/li>\n<li>Develops proposals for funding purposes to support ODL research projects<\/li>\n<li>Organises and participates in departmental, institutional, national and international\u00a0conferences, seminars and research colloquia.<\/li>\n<li>Presents papers at institutional, national and international conferences.<\/li>\n<li>Publishes at least four accredited research outputs in a period of three years.<\/li>\n<li>Participates in, serves and occasionally leads project teams that conduct ODL research.<\/li>\n<li>Reviews academic outputs and research reports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Participates in ODL research capacity development.<\/li>\n<li>Assists in the supervision of postgraduate students where appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Salary: Remuneration is commensurate with the seniority of the position<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Closing date:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a016 November 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Enquiries:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0(012) 429 2684\u00a0\u00a0Ms\u00a0Thuli\u00a0Ndou<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unisa.ac.za\/vacancies_view\/html\/5284.htm\">Apply Online<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The purpose of the position is to: Initiate, stimulate and participate in individual and collaborative ODL research and research projects.
