The Western Cape Government is inviting suitably qualified applicants for the following apprentice opportunities:<\/strong><\/p>\n Carpenter Reference number: APR 04\/2012 A separate application must be completed for each position you apply for.<\/strong>Please indicate your choice of preference.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2666<\/strong>\u00a0Only applicants residing in the Cape Metro, Cape Wine lands and Overberg regions are eligible to apply.\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>\u00a0Applicants must enjoy good health and be prepared to undergo a medical examination.\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>\u00a0Applicants have to participate in numeracy, literacy and interest testing before the final selection is made.\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>\u00a0Selected applicants will be required to work on a construction site as part of the selection process for a period of 2 \u2013 3 months.\u00a0\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>\u00a0Successful applicants must be willing to travel and work at various sites within the Cape Metro, Cape Wine lands and Overberg regions during training.\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>\u00a0A three year training programme will follow.\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>Training entails: study of technical subjects, undergo practical training on site, apply health and safety regulations, housekeeping (cleaning of work areas) and undertake administrative tasks.<\/p>\n REMUNERATION:\u00a0<\/strong>Successful learners will earn a monthly stipend of R2 850,00 per month and will be required to sign a contract with the Department.<\/p>\n REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong>\u00a0A Grade 12 (Matric) or Technical Matric Certificate with mathematics with a minimum pass of 50%\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>Applicants must be between the ages of 18 \u2013 25\u00a0\u2666\u00a0<\/strong>Good written and verbal communication skills in at least two of the official Languages of the Western Cape.<\/p>\n RECOMMENDATIONS:\u00a0<\/strong>\u2666<\/strong>\u00a0Applicants from Technical Schools.\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>\u00a0An interest or aptitude for the trade of plumbing and carpentry.\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>Youth with working experience in the Plumbing and Carpentry trades.<\/p>\n COMPETENCIES:<\/strong>\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>\u00a0Technical Skills (Practical).\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>\u00a0Numeracy Skills (determine mathematical ability).\u00a0\u2666<\/strong>\u00a0Literacy Skills (reading and writing ability).\u00a0\u2666\u00a0<\/strong>Knowledge of the plumbing and\/or carpentry trades General knowledge of the Built Environment.<\/p>\n
