Job Title: Electronic Services Engineer
Location: Bryanston, Gauteng, South Africa
Contract Type: Contract 6 Months
Reference: # WSP/PTY/BRY/01/2020

 

KEY ROLE:

The items detailed herein are guidelines for the Electronic Services Engineer position; they are to include the items detailed below but are not limited to these. These items are indicators of eligibility / capability for the position. The suitability of staff for the position remains at the discretion of management and subject to an Engineering position being available.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•CCTV Monitoring & Recording Systems
•Building Management Systems (BMS) – (Preference will be given to candidates with good knowledge and experience in this service)
•Access Control Systems
•Structured Cabling design with broad based knowledge of network and IT related equipment
•Fibre Optic Network design including Ethernet and GPON
•Audio Visual Systems
•Fire Detection, Gas Suppression and Emergency Evacuation Systems
•Project Management and Coordination with other Building Services

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

•Capable of completing small and large projects with limited input required from line manager
•Must be able to work on more than one big project at a time with good time management and reporting skills
•The technical abilities and expertise listed above must be performed in the following project stages;

PROJECT INCEPTION

•Kick off meetings
•Design Concepts, line diagrams, plant area’s
•Preparation of technical reports
•Preparation of budgetary estimates

TENDER DESIGN

•Obtaining approval of contractors lists and budgets
•Development of full tender designs including detailed heat load calculations in Server Rooms and Network Racks, integration of tenant requirements, detailed designs, documenting all design calculations, preparation of tender specifications and BOQ’s, preparation of tender adjudication reports

CONSTRUCTION

•Compiling system schematics and network diagrams with no input required from Integrators
•Completion of first fix designs
•Value engineering
•Second fix design
•Coordination with other services
•Site supervision, inspections, quality control
•Attendance at all professional team meetings

CLOSE OUT

•Hand over and commissioning
•O&M Manuals

COST CONTROL

•Budgeting
•Monthly cost reporting on ALL disciplines listed above
•Final accounts
•Professional fee calculations
•Debt management

CLIENT INTERFACE AND MARKETING

•Ensuring ‘client satisfaction’
•Professional and helpful attitude
•Possible existing client base

HEALTH AND SAFETY

•Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you
•Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm
•Embracing, displaying and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

•Minimum of a BSc or BTech degree in Engineering from a recognised educational institution
•Project Management qualification is advantageous
•Minimum of 5 years electronic services engineering experience required
•Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
