Since 2012, with support from the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, through the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CareWorks has worked as an HIV prevention partner in various workplaces and communities throughout South Africa.

Job Position: Quality Assurance Registered Nurse
Job Location: Mahikeng, North West
Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager
Employment Type: Contract – Event Based Linked to Funding
Start Date: ASAP
Educational Requirements: Dip / Degree in Nursing (3-year)

Experience

  • Workplace wellness programmes including NCD’s and HIV
  • Facilitation and education with the ability to deliver training
    Postgraduate training in Primary Health Care Nursing or Public Health is highly desirable; Diploma in HIV/AIDS management or NIMART training would be advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of SA DoH HIV/AIDS/STI/TB guidelines with 3-5 years’ experience working as a Clinical Trainer/Mentor/Facilitator in an HIV setting;
  • Have played a role or managed the implementation and sustainability of quality assurance programme or as a master-trainer in the Rapid Test Quality Improvement Initiative (RTQII);
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council;
  • Valid Driver’s License (own vehicle for daily use is essential)
  • Must be able to speak both English and Tswana

Inherent requirements of the position:

  • Should be based in Mafikeng, North West
  • Meticulous administrative skills;
  • Extensive travel in Ngaka Modiri Molema, Bojanala and when necessary in Nkangala and Waterberg;
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage in one-on-one sessions;
  • Understanding the dynamics of donor-funded programmes in relation to HIV/Aids prevention programmes;
  • Knowledge of correct inventory management in relation to rapid-HIV test and peripherals;
  • Knowledge of Proficiency Testing, in HIV Serology;
  • Knowledge of Independent Quality Control (IQC);
  • Understanding the value of cold-chain management;
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise;
  • Friendly disposition with good time management skills;
  • Good client liaison skills;
  • Fluent in English with African languages being beneficial;
  • Effective communicator;
  • Punctual;
  • Must have own transport and willing to use it for travel (reimbursed travel expense applies);
  • Knowledgeable to the procurement requirements for the department;
  • Analytical ability (reasoning and questioning);
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Results orientated;
  • Strong time management skills;
  • Ability to write reports
  • Systems & Applications skills and knowledge (MS-Word & Excel essential, CareWorks -Dashboard;
  • Ability to multi-task and have a great attention to detail; and
  • The incumbent must be current on the SANC registry

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support HTS operations per district; and
    • Where necessary support the district coordinator at DoH or partner meetings;
  • From time-to-time the incumbent would be required to represent the company at stakeholder meetings, e.g.: DoH, NHLS, and other partners;
  • Where the company expand its operations in a new district, the incumbent will network with the relevant authorities pursuant to formalise a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU);
  • When and if needed, the incumbent may be asked to perform site visits, either locally or at sites in differing provinces where our programmes are facilitated;
  • Ensure the continuous enrolment to external quality assurance initiatives; such as Proficiency Testing;
  • Coordinate the distribution of Proficiency Testing Panels and the timeous submission of results to Head Office;
  • Engage the respective district health pursuant to:
    • Introduce CareWorks as a prevention partner;
    • Introduce the designated District Coordinator and Linkage Officer;
    • Coordinate with the local authority, the dispensing of commodities; including
      • Rapid HIV Test kits
      • Male and female condoms
      • Appropriate sharps disposers
      • Bio-hazardous red bin-liners
      • Disposable aprons
      • HTS registers
    • Coordinate the submission of statistics to the local authority;
    • Coordinate with the Regional Training Centre and other external training partners pursuant to continuous professional development of field-staff;
  • Where necessary, facilitate internal training modules
  • Monitor and ensure the correct and consistent application of Internal Quality Assurance; including
    • The correct storage and transport of IQC-panels;
    • Frequent ordering of IQC Panels
    • Correct and consistent recording of IOC results
  • Discordant incidence
    • Record the incident;
    • Fast-track the analysis of the ELISA; if authorised
    • Investigate and document the circumstances which lead to the discordant;
    • Collaborate with the call-centre to engage the affected client, pursuant to provide the result
