Job Title: Research Nurse
Location: Philippi Village: Mobile Clinic

We invite applicants to apply for this one-year fixed- term contract post at the Tutu Tester Mobile Clinic, Philippi, Cape Town as part of the POWER project delivering PrEP to adolescent girls and young women.

Requirements:

  • Nursing Degree or Diploma Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse
  • At least 2 years nursing experience
  • Experiences of working with adolescent in the health sector
  • Computer literacy with sound knowledge of email, word processing and internet
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
  • Ability to work harmoniously with youth of diverse backgrounds
  • Client focused
  • Administration skills
  • Must be able to work as a member of a team
  • Must be detail orientated
  • Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, including weekends from time to time

Advantages:

  • At least one year research experience
  • Knowledge of HIV including PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)
  • Training in Contraception including implant insertion
  • Dispensing license
  • A working knowledge of an adolescent friendly clinical environment
  • Speak isiXhosa

Responsibilities:

  • Providing a client focused youth friendly sexual and reproductive health service
  •  Maintaining strict client confidentiality
  • Providing pre- and post-test counselling, as well as risk reduction counselling, for  clients
  • HIV testing
  • Obtaining blood and tissue samples and processing them as required
  • Conducting study procedures including ECG’s, spirometry testing, etc
  • Corresponding with the laboratory regarding query resolution
  • Performing other client care procedures as required
  • Entering data on case report forms and processing
  • Performing Quality Control (QC) checks on CRFs and source documents
  • Providing feedback to staff regarding common errors as part of the QC process
  • Managing filing of CRFs, source documents and laboratory reports
