To provide in depth subject matter expertise relating to insurance legislation, to conduct investigations relating to insurance business and to supervise compliance with insurance legislation. The person appointed to this position will report to the Manager.

 

Job Title: Specialist Analyst Insurers & Retirements Fund Benefits Administrators Supervision Department
Location: Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa

Specification
•Monitor compliance with legislation to ensure the protection and fair treatment of policyholders;
•Responsible for coordinating, planning and conducting thematic / compliance on-site inspections in terms of the risk-based supervision approach;
•Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships;
•Conduct research and provide specialist advice to the Insurance Supervision team;
•Provide specialist support to other members of the Insurance Supervision team;
•Manage and co-ordinate technical projects in the department; and
•Provide strategic and tactical support to the department in respect of the development of a framework for conduct of business supervision.

The candidate must demonstrate the following skills and attributes: Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently, problem solving and analysis skills; information gathering, good interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, good customer relations skills; persuasiveness and must be computer literate.

Requirements
A degree in Law or Insurance Risk Management, with at least 5 years’ experience in an insurance technical, compliance or risk management role. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, and in particular, the insurance industry is required. Experience in a compliance or risk management role within an insurer would be an added advantage. Preference will be given to candidates with a certification in Compliance or Risk Management.
