Applications to study at MDG are currently OPEN for a learnership or skills programme. Applications close 10 September 2017 at midnight.

MDG Performing Arts Academy, a division of Mangaung Drama & Dance Group, is an accredited academic institution.

Application requirements:

​ Age:Minimum age: 18 (If you turn 18 before 10 September 2017, please type in 18).

Maximum age: 25

Grade 12: Compulsory

​ Languages: Passed two on senior (matric) certificate level – not less than 50%.

One of which must be English.

Mathematical literacy: Passed on senior (matric) certificate level – not less than 50%.

Citizenship: Only South African citizens​.

Residence: All tuition is conducted on our Bloemfontein campus.

Application process:

Our application process is two-folded.

Firstly, you have to apply by clicking on the apply button at the bottom of this page. This will let you complete the application form.

The system will automatically detect any disqualifying criteria and terminate your application if you do not meet our requirements.

If you meet all our application requirements, the system wil let you submit your application.

Once we have reviewed your application, we will contact you with an audition date and time.

Learnership Course Overview:

The aim of this qualification is to produce qualified, professional performing artists who will contribute to the South African Performing Arts Industries in creative and meaningful ways.

It will equip qualifying learners with basic competencies in the performing arts in order to work successfully as actors, dancers, composers, choreographers, directors, writers, collaborators, administrators

This programme consists out of 10 modules and it is presented over a period of 12 months.

This is a credit bearing course and students completing the course successfully will be uploaded onto the national learner database to validate their competencies.

Skills Programme Course Overview:

The aim of this part-qualification is to contribute to producing, performing artists who will contribute to the South African Performing Arts Industries in creative and meaningful ways.

It will equip qualifying learners with basic competencies in the performing arts.

This programme consists out of five modules and it is presented over a period of between 6 and 10 months.

This is a credit bearing course and students completing the skills programme successfully will be uploaded onto the national learner database to validate their competencies.
