Vacancy Details

Together with our client, an electronic manufacturing company in Alberton we are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop new products for the defense industry. The Ideal Candidate needs to have 5+ years of experience in design and development (Background in defense industry preferred) and must hold a BEng / BSc Engineering Mechanical or Mechatronics qualification.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Functional:

•  Working as part of the R&D team to provide technical solutions by applying good engineering skills.
•  Designing and developing new products for the defense industry
•  Understand customer, market and product needs.
•  Using appropriate engineering techniques, such as simulations, mock-ups, models and prototypes developing a thorough understanding of the behavior of proposed solutions.
•  Create production drawings and data-packs using CAD (Solid Edge)
•  Identifying deficiencies in mechanical processes and developing improvements
• Analyzing and testing of prototypes
• Developing, initiating and managing all phases of projects
•  Preparing documentation of critical analysis and providing suggestions for correcting errors
• Collaborating with Project Managers for proper allocation and tracking of resources

 

Administrative:

• Knowledge and experience of Engineering Processes and methodologies
• Good analytical, organization and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Experience in producing engineering documentation
• Good technical report writing skills
• Ability to tackle complex problems
• Good verbal, written, communication and presentation skills
•  Ability to interface with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors

Required Minimum Qualifications
