Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:
The Merchandise Specialist is responsible for building a range that fulfils the needs of the local market. Through consumer and retail insights within the competitive brand environment, he/she needs to create an industry leading area range and ensure that an adidas product range – that is competitive in terms of completeness, structure, price and margin – is delivered to the market. He/She assumes full responsibilities for driving his/her category and is recognised as the category expert.
Key Responsibilities:
Builds and selects a comprehensive and the most competitive range for the SA market and in the context thereof focusing also on the development of customer specific ranges
Compliments the Global range with locally produced articles.
Identify and develop key items and commercial lines that are price driven.
Presents the ranges internally (sales) and externally (customers)
Liaises and interacts closely with key accounts regarding range development, subsequent sell ins and post sell cooperation (for eg SMU developments)
Ongoing market visits and research to ensure being up to speed in retail and competitive environment.

Local Marketing & Sales
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Market experience in sport categories.
Consumer-focused with product and range understanding with an excellent understanding of balancing brand and commercial aspects to build channel specific GTM solutions.
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
University degree in Marketing/business focus
Good numerical skills
Strong interpersonal skills
ideally with marketing and sales focus or equivalent professional experience
> 2 years of Merchandising Experience, cross-functional marketing and/or sales experience
Fluent in English (writing and verbal)
Excellent presentation skills
IT skills: Outlook and Word: Basic; Excel and PowerPoint: advanced
