Science, Engineering and Technology position at the NMB Science and Technology Centre.
Unemployed GRADUATES in Science, Engineering and Technology ONLY.
Required to volunteer in the DST’S National Youth Service Programme
Volunteers will be based at the Nelson Mandela Bay Science and Technology Centre.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Science and Technology Centre is located in the heart of Uitenhage’s central business district and offers programmes which target educators and learners in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
The centre offers in-house and external programmes designed to build enthusiasm and an affinity to these subjects.
The centre is a project of the Uitenhage Despatch Development Initiative (UDDI), a special purpose vehicle established to facilitate socio-economic development within the Uitenhage-Despatch area of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.
Four (4) positions for persons aged 18-35 are available for a 12-month contract.
Stipends paid to volunteers per month are as follows:
· National Diploma (R4000)
· Bachelor’s Degree/B.Tech (R4500)
· Honours (R5000)
· Master’s (R6000)
· PhD (R7200)
Volunteers will be required to:
· Assist with School Science Support Programmes
· Facilitate outreach programmes
· Facilitate programmes offered in the centre
Requirements
A Science Diploma/Degree with Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Microbiology etc as majors or an Engineering qualification.
· Good communication skills
· Ability to work with people
· Technical skills
· Drivers licence will be advantageous
All travel and relocation costs will be for the candidates’ own expenses.
