Specific Accountabilities:
Responsible for design of all facets of medium voltage Substations, cable- and line networks up to and including 132kV. This includes earthing, primary plant and secondary plant.
Responsible for construction supervision of medium voltage Substations, cable- and line projects. This includes civil works, earthing, primary plant and secondary plant.
Provide technical, managerial and supervisory direction in all engineering and technical activities concerning Substations, cable- and line projects
Responsible for project management of medium voltage Substations, cable- and line projects within time & budget and to WPRSA EMS and PMP Standards
Responsible for supervision of draughtsmen on projects to ensure completion within time and budget and to WPRSA EMS and WPMP Standards
Responsible for preparation of tender documents and drawings of Substations, cable- and line projects
Prepares specifications and bills of quantities
Prepares and submit invoices
Responsible for routine administration tasks as required from time to time relating to both office- and project administration
Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provision and guidelines of the Quality Assurance System relevant to the Business Unit
Safety – Responsible for personal safety, safe working practices for the Business Unit. Application & compliance with OH&S procedures.
Undertakes technical and feasibility studies and site investigations and complete associated reports
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
· B Eng in Electrical Engineering at a recognised university
· Professional registration or be eligible for Professional registration with ECSA
· Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in the substation and electrical distribution environment
· Ability to manage people effectively
· Ability to grow and maintain client relationships
· Ability to manage projects, resources and contractors in the building services environment
· Computer literate
· Familiar with Autocad lite or Caddie or Micro Station
· Fluent in English
· Knowledge & experience of South African working conditions and standards
· Experience in applicable standards, national and international codes (IEC 61850, NRS 003, etc)
· Experience in Eskom design standards
· Knowledge of engineering economic principles
· Ability to analyse and interpret reports, procedures, and regulations
