Our client, a specialist in the field, is looking for a dynamic individual to join their team and assist with the overall day-to-day management of their Mechanical Workshop facility.
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- Qualified Fitter with relevant certifications.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience working on mine winder equipment or similar heavy rotating machinery and hydraulics.
- Strong leadership abilities to effectively manage a multi-disciplinary team.
- Exceptional multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in planning and coordinating workshop activities.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the activities and processes of the Mechanical Workshop facility, including machining facilities, light and heavy assembly areas, and the hydraulic workshop.
- Provide task planning and technical guidance to workshop staff, ensuring efficient and high-quality work.
- Adhere to all legal requirements and safety, health, and environmental policies.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping practices and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Conduct training sessions for workshop staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with the Mechanical Production Manager and storeman to maintain adequate stock levels of all consumables.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of machined, manufactured, assembled, or refurbished products.
- Ensure timely delivery of projects and maintain a high level of quality.
- Conduct daily Workshop Pre-inspections and toolbox talks.
- Manage supplier relationships and arrange waste skip collections.
- Coordinate transportation requirements for external and internal deliveries and collections.
- Maintain accurate records of production staff time sheets.
- Supervise external contractors and handle enquiries, tenders, and quotations for external machining business.
- Oversee the shot blasting, painting, and assembly of projects on-site.
- Handle purchasing of materials, consumables, and tooling for external jobs.
- Control and issue personal protective equipment (PPE) for the workshop.
- Record diesel usage and take responsibility for crane inspections and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements for contractors on-site.
- Develop Quality Control Plans (QCPs) for necessary processes.
- Issue Work Instructions to various departments within the workshop.
