Catalyst for Growth, a nonprofit organisation based in Johannesburg, that has developed an analytics platform for business development support (BDS) providers serving small-medium-and micro-sized enterprises (SMMEs). The introduction of the platform is intended to increase the quality of business development support (BDS) in the market, reward the best service providers, and help link SMMEs to growth capital.

Job Title: Fundraising Associate
Job Location: Johannesburg
Report to: Executive Director

The purpose of the position is to work in a matrix organisational structure to deliver on the core areas donor lead generation, proposal development, donor stewardship, communication (including marketing, branding and events), product development and compliance

Responsibilities:

Donor lead generation

  • Devise / Update an overarching fundraising strategy / analysis
  • Develop and manage an active donor pipeline that ensures sustainability
  • Prospect, relationship building and proposal development
  • Develop and implement contracting and reporting processes

Donor Stewardship

  • Identify and manage key relationship milestones, KPAs, outputs
  • Implement an effective engagement and communication plan with existing partners
  • Deliver regular reports and updates to existing partners and give detailed reports and presentations on fundraising progress to the ED

Communication / Marketing / Branding and Events

  • Sustain effective communication / marketing to the general donor market
  • Targeted communication to specific targeted partners
  • Advise on and manage all reputational and other related risk
  • Coordinate fundraising events / activities and actively support other activities in the organisation
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of local and regional engagement strategies

Product Development

  • Actively participate in the strategic product development processes within the C4G team

Compliance

  • Ensure full organisational compliance to enhance funding pipeline and partnerships

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Development, Fundraising or other related qualification
  • Demonstrated fundraising skills, including the ability to identify opportunities and implement innovative solutions
  • Diplomatic and communication skills and an ability to work and communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals, such as BDS buyers, donors, business leaders, government, investors, etc
  • Experience in digital communication channels and developing and implementing online strategies for engagement and fundraising
  • Report writing, analytical and communication skills, including oral presentation skills
  • Knowledge and experience in successful fundraising over the past five years (non-philanthropic experience is advantageous)
  • Must be a South African national with fluency in English and one local indigenous South African language
  • Should be in possession of a valid South African driver’s license and be willing to travel substantially
  • Interpersonal, management and negotiation skills
  • Strong story-telling skills and the ability to communicate messaging effectively

The Fundraising Associate is expected to work a minimum of 40 working hours per week, while being flexible enough to avail him/herself beyond this according to organisational needs.
