To manage the in-house core equity portfolio in accordance with the Fund’s Investment policy and mandate.

 

Job Title: Portfolio Manager(Listed Equities)

Specification

1.DETAILED ANALYSIS OF COMPANY HISTORY AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

•Research market to identify potential investment opportunities.

•Gather and analyse information on which to base investment decisions.

•Attend Investor meetings and investment Analyst Society presentations.

•Conduct interviews with management.

•Benchmark company performance both domestically and globally.

2.MAINTAIN AND UPDATE EQUITY VALUATION MODEL

•Develop and maintain quantitative/analytic models.

•Provide updated valuation models and earnings after results are published.

•Maintain equity ranking model.

3.INDUSTRY SECTOR ANALYSIS

•Analysis of sector under coverage and companies positioning within industry.

•Benchmark performance across the industry, domestically and globally.

•Assess company strategy within industry and changes taking place.

•Develop and maintain positive relationships with broker analyst companies and other industry specialists.

•Advise Investment team on corporate action in sectors under coverage.

4.PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

•Maintain, improve and implement our investment philosophy.

•Maintain and implement applications which support financial risk management efforts.

•Contribute an equity perspective to the economic cluster meetings.

•Optimize the portfolio to reflect bottom up analyst views and risk return trade off.

5.PE AND INTERNAL EQUITY INTEGRATION

•Attend and contribute to Private Equity advisory board committee meetings.

•Gather and analyse information on which to base investment decisions.

•Contribute to the equity research meeting with PE team.

6.PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

•Ensure that practices are implemented to build capability.

•Plan manpower needs.

•Select/assign and lead/manage people.

•Maintain shared values, vision and mission.

•Direct the training and development of staff.

•Conduct interviews to recruit talent.

Requirements
• 8 years’ minimum working experience (including at least 2 years’ experience in a managerial role).

•Preferably with 4 years’ experience in Equity Research and 1 year in Portfolio Management.

•Minimum required qualification: Honours Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Actuarial Science.

•CA(SA) and CFA will be highly advantageous.

•In-depth knowledge of legislation governing investments.

•In-depth knowledge of Tax legislation.

•In-depth knowledge of financial practices and procedures.

•In-depth knowledge of Industry developments.
