Main Purpose of Job
Leading a team of boiler controllers and contractors to ensure Services, Building and Grounds are managed, maintained in a safe condition and good as new condition.
To Lead and Control the Steam Generation Plant at Enstra Mill
To ensure Safety and Housekeeping is in-line with EHS standards.
To ensure all Statutory and Regulatory requirements for Boiler Operations and ancillary equipment are complied with
To ensure Optimal Plant Availability and Efficiency.
Ensure buildings and grounds assets are maintained in a “Safe to operate” condition at all times while promoting all aspects of safe working practices to meet all safety and housekeeping objectives of the services plant and buildings.
Optimise mechanical systems together with maintenance of boilers cooling towers and compressor equipment in order to achieve optimum plant and process reliability.
Plan, organise and control the services departmental contracts and related Projects, of buildings and grounds maintenance.
Manage budgets and contracts effectively.
Responsible for all utility reading ,verification and balance to service providers.
Ensure compliance to statutory, regulatory and KC PMS (Planned Maintenance standards) and ensure that schedules are in place in the planned maintenance system to ensure they are completed as per frequency required.
Identify issues and opportunities for improvement through modifications and upgrades.
Manage changes in process requirements brought by changes in raw material specifications and productivity requirements, adherence to Management of Change (MOC) process.
Train, develop and improve personnel skills by means of on-the-job as well as technical and generic training.
Communications – provide relevant and timely communications at all levels.
OSH Act GMR 2 (7)(a) appointment.
Ensures safety, quality, housekeeping and standard work procedures are adhered to at all time and are to world class standards
Ensure Optimal Boiler Availability and Steam Generation Efficiency. Ensure optimal compressor efficiencies are achieved.
Ensure that activities and production schedules are meeting targets and those delays and deviations are rectified immediately.
To actively engage in problem solving and failure investigation activities in the plants, in order to enhance productivity, efficiency and maintenance programmes on plant services equipment.
To develop solutions to problems thus improving equipment life-cycle costs and or decreasing plant downtime.
Ensure all correct raw materials that are required, are available
To Control expenditure to within prescribed monthly and annual spending levels
Provides leadership, coaching and development for teams and individual members in the shift.
Attend to IR and HR matters and take appropriate action
Ensure all internal controls and company policies and procedures are adhered to.
Ensure compressor, effluent, dust control systems and other ancillary equipment is maintained in accordance with KC PMS standards.
At least an N4 National Diploma
Qualified tradesman preferably boiler making
CP steam generation coalification
Minimum of 5 years experience on Boiler Operations with at least 2 years supervisory experience.
Sound technical knowledge and good leadership skills.
Ability to organise, lead and delegate subordinates and maintain effective control.

Boiler operations and maintenance experience
Experience with compressed air installations, control and maintenance.
Has demonstrated good leadership qualities in line with K.C policies and practices.
