LS of South Africa Radio Communication Services (Pty) Ltd (a member of the LS telcom Group of Companies), located in Johannesburg, requires the services of a knowledgeable RF Engineer/-Technologist. This person will be required to perform a range of activities associated with telecommunication and broadcast business in various industries including the vertical markets. Such activities will include the design topology, frequency planning and implementation of radio networks for new technologies such as 5G-Advanced, LTE, IoT, AI/ML, measurements and associated Drone/UAV application development in these fields.
We are currently recruiting for a RF Development and Project Engineer / Technologist to join our dynamic team.
The RF Engineer/-Technologist will coordinate and/or fully participate in the execution of diverse Telecommunications projects or tasks, as may be required, in achieving LS of SA’s business objectives and that of the group internationally.
RF specific work will normally, but not always, be part of such projects or tasks.

Job Summary:
Duties & Responsibilities:
The duties and accountabilities for this post consist of, but are not limited to the following:
The incumbent will participate in, and in certain cases lead, the execution of telecommunication related projects/tasks (internal and external) that may, or may not include high level RF technology development, associated Software development (mainly .NET), spectrum management, RF planning and measurement components
In all cases the incumbent shall assume full accountability for the accuracy and professional quality of the work output of the post.
The incumbent shall engage in practical installation work that may be required to successfully execute such projects. It is expected that a high level of proficiency be achieved by the incumbent regarding installation work.
Conduct high level technical investigations culminating in detail technical reports, complete with the analytical assessment of the findings and substantiation of the conclusions/recommendations.
The incumbent will be required to effectively employ LS telcom’s sophisticated family of spectrum management and monitoring/measurement systems in the execution of assigned RF spectrum planning and measurement projects/tasks.
Conduct professional consultation services on behalf of LS of SA in respect of telecommunication, broadcast and radio frequency matters.
Involvement in RF anechoic chamber measurements at the LS of SA premises in Johannesburg.
Writing of RF courses for the LS of South Africa training academy
Contribute to International Telecommunication Union (ITU) study groups where and when required.
Physically set up, calibrate, deploy and operate the LS telcom’s family of spectrum management and monitoring systems and planning tools.
Write technical reports on project and measurement outcome together with findings and recommendations.
Attend any training course as deemed appropriate for the position at LS of SA.
Be proactive to stay updated with the latest technologies and keep LS of SA as an Industry Leader.
Be prepared to participate in associated activities, including travelling (locally and internationally), towards achieving Company objectives.
Execute any other necessary duties as might be required by LS of SA.
Minimum Requirements:
Shall have acquired a professional technical qualification in electronic engineering, majoring in radio frequency applications (engineering degree/s or diploma/s) at an accredited tertiary educational institution.
At least 3-years’ experience in the applicable areas as mentioned in the job description.
Shall possess a high-level functional knowledge of the LS telcom’s family of spectrum management/monitoring systems and measurement equipment. (theoretical)
Demonstrate an ability to configure, set up, install, use, interpret and derive logical conclusions on all components of the LS telcom’s family of spectrum management and measurement systems. (practical)
Shall understand the basics of spectrum management, international spectral coordination and spectrum administration.
Shall have a good general understanding of IT structures and program languages, be completely conversant in all current Microsoft Office Software applications and be capable of interpreting and employing software applications in task execution.
Shall demonstrate an administrative capability to log, report and execute the responsibilities of this post.
Shall possess excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language.
Shall demonstrate an ability to work in a logical manner according to predefined work procedures.
Shall be required to travel internationally to participate in such international projects and contribute to such international projects that might be multi-national.
Shall have the ability to interact both as a team member and a leader within the Company and also be capable of effectively representing the Company externally as an individual.
Time Management skills – prioritisation of work, working to deadlines, interacting with team members to produce results.
Shall have a valid South African driver’s license and passport.
