The Splicer is responsible to perform maintenance on the network.

 

 

 

 

 

Job Title: Splicer
Location: Port Elizabeth

Job Summary:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

• Splicing of active and passive fibre networks. • Identify breaks and weak spots in the network seen as high-risk factors. • Remediate cutting over of cables and/or cutting over to new joints. • Maintain short timelines between temporary and permanent repairs. • Resolve all breaks in the designated areas. • Maintain handle and route daily, which could include cleaning, numbering, slack management, and labelling

Desired Experience & Qualification:
The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:

– • Related training and experience with Fibre Optics. • Good communication skills. • Ready to learn and work independently. • Problem solving skills. • Ability to read and troubleshoot complex diagrams. • At least 3 years technical experience or technical experience within a telecommunications environment. • 1-year technical experience in an optical fibre environment would be advantageous. • Advanced experience in splicing in complex network environments. • Valid drivers’ license. • Strong analytical ability. • Ability to work well under pressure to achieve goals and targets. • Self-motivation and a strong sense of achievement to take ownership of a network is of utmost importance.

Qualifications:

• IT Network Diploma, Certificate or related Degree would be advantageous. • Grade 12 or a Technical N1 – N3 is required. • Certified Fibre Optic Technician Certificate (CFOT) would be advantageous. • Related qualifications in telecommunications would be an additional advantage.
