Position Description
Group Sourcing Business Unit – Claims Procurement has a position available for a Contracts Officer who will be based in Santam Head Office Bellville.
Key Responsibilities
JOB DESCRIPTION
A position is available for Contracts Officers (buyer/contracting experience) with direct experience working with suppliers and contract terms and conditions, managing all deliverables to aggressive time lines and service delivery levels. The purpose of the position is to implement and maintain procurement, service and supply contracts in line with the requirements of the relevant Procurement managers’ commodity objectives.
Key accountabilities:
Analyze and determine commodities spend i.t.o pre-determined criteria;
Issuing of request for proposals, based on the Procurement Managers’recommendation;
Adjudication of these proposals and tabling recommendations to the Procurement Manager for acceptance;
Preparation, issuing, terminating and signing of contracts;
Ongoing administrations and amending contracts due to change in supplier details and /or price increase updates, as well as providing data for system updates i.t.o supplier details and catalogues, to ensure accurate and up to date agreed supplier details and negotiated prices are loaded to Santam systems.
Minimum Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Relevant B degree or working towards one, or a Procurement or supply chain management qualification,
Computer Literate (MS Office package: Advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet)
At least 3 years’ experience as a Contracts Officer with the necessary contracting skills
SKILLS
Ability to formulate RFP’s and contracts and negotiate amicable “win/win” relationships with the relevant supply base leading to contracts
Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills
Analytical ability and logical reasoning
Strong client service orientation
Manage supplier relationships
Ability to work under pressure
KNOWLEDGE
Superior knowledge of purchasing/contracting practices and policies
Knowledge of market research and analysis pertaining to suppliers
Purchasing and contracting within a motor related or building environment or the purchasing of machinery or equipment would be an advantage
