Vacancy Details

Our client in JHB south is looking for a design engineer.

Purpose

• Will be required to create designs and technical drawings for projects.
• Will be required to review specifications and other data to develop new designs and technical layouts.
• Will work closely with other engineers and draftsman to create and improve/evolve designs and develop drawings for a wide variety of specialised custom vehicle build projects.

RESPONSIBLITIES

• Receive concept information from clients.
• Design and produce a concept model/drawing- As per client specification.
• Liaise with management, sales, and the clients to obtain concept design sign off.
• Translate the concept into activated design projects.
• Create and build 3D model designs in line with company procedure, regulations, standards, and client specifications.
• Manage/oversee related assigned project draftsman.
• Checking of drawings before submission to manager for sign off and release.
• Finalize designs/drawings and release manufacturing dockets to the production department.
• Publish drawings to the production floor and communicate with fabrication and assembly manages and personnel with regards to design manufacture and build.
• Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that the machine is built properly and according to design specifications.
• Do quality checks during the manufacturing process and on final finished project.
• Use customer feedback and data to design upgrades, improvements or repairs the company’s existing machines.

REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Btech / BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 3D CAD Modelling software
• Microsoft office (Advanced)
• 3+ years’ experience in design engineering role or related experience
• Autodesk Inventor experience advantageous
• Autodesk Vault experience advantageous.
